I tried to programm a button hold (Panasonic power on) for my dreambox remote urc-39930RJ0-04. I even found a device upgrade with the discrete codes for power on an off that worked(manually). But i´m not able to perform the following action of the readme file from remote master:

"To enable Duration Control for the function, select the duration multiple to be used in the "Duration" column (default = 0 = none)."

I don't have a duration columm in the functions sheet, it´s also not available in the pull down tabs!

In the combiner device protocol i just selected "Protocol: Panasonic" and left the other fields blank, because i didn't know what to put in there and i didnt understand what that means:
Manually adding a protocol:
On the "Device Combiner" panel, press the Add button to display the "Combiner Device" dialog. Select the protocol to use, and enter the desired values for the protocol parameters, then press the OK button

What Panasonic device are trying to control? TV, VCR, other?

There are several paths you can take.

(A) If you are using a device upgrade (provide a link to the Device Upgrade you refer to above) for your Panasonic device, use the "Import" button to import that upgrade;

(B) If you are using built-in setup code for your Panasonic device, and just need this single function to extend the duration on, then tell us what setup code you are using. Go to the Devices.xls spreadsheet and look up your setup code. There it will list the protocol, and device paramenterts you need to fill in the data on the Manual "Add" device pop-up in RM's Device Combiner worksheet. Then you need to add just the single function you desire ("Power" I suppose) to the functions page and set the duration you desire. You may have to experiment with several durations until you one that works consistently but doesn't take forever. If you don't understand what to do as you go through this, provide the information about the setup code and and someone here will help you.

i´m trying to control a plasma tv th-42pz85e. I used this

upgrade which provided the buttons/functions i needed (aspect and input). Manually the buttons work perfectly, even the discrete power on and off.

a) using the import button tells me , that i´m loading the upgrade for the wrong remote (Atlas.....)

b) the setup code i´m using for the tv is 1250. First i used 0680 (as referred to the manual, the others didnt work) The devices.xls says "_pid: $01A4". In the combiner device window the last protocol is pid: 00 F4 (I think this is before 01a4)


What to do?

Don't worry that when you use someone else's upgrade that the remote doesn't match. The only issue you will find is that the assignments to buttons will have to be moved around.

The functions and the features of the upgrade will remain intact. All you have to do is go into the buttons tab or the layout tab and reassign where you want the functions to go.

OK, here's what you need to do:

This upgrade uses the Panasonic Combo protocol, which requires 2-byte commands. Unfortunately, the Device Combiner can only work with protocols that require 1-byte commands, so you have to convert this upgrade to one using a different Panasonic protocol that uses 1-byte commands. Normally you can either import an upgrade into Device Combiner, but as I outline the process below, it doesn't seem to work properly and an expert has to look at the software. In your case, the easiest solution is to build the Device Combiner upgrade from scratch.

(1) Open a new RM file, select your remote;
(2) Select the Device Combiner protocol;
(3) On the Device Combiner tab, select "Add";
(4) Select the "Panasonic" protocol, type in Device=128, Subdevice=0, and leave the other fields blank;
(5) on the functions page, delete all but three functions;
(6) rename those three remaining functions (a) Power; (b) Discrete ON, and (c) Discrete OFF
(7) assign them EFCs of 24, 22, and 26, respectively;
(8) Assign whatever duration you want (you may have to experiment a few times until you get a duration that is optimum for you);
(9) assign them to buttons and copy and paste the Device and Protocol upgrades into IR;
(10) Use them as you need in IR for Keymoves, Macros, whatever...



Theoretically this should work just as well:
(1) Download and save that upgrade file you found. The remote doesn't matter, when it asks for "which Atlas" to use, just pick one of the first ones in the dropdown list, like Atlas 5 Day URC-1055 JP1.3 3033;
(2) open that upgrade in RM;
(3) on the Buttons page, de-assign all of the functions from any buttons;
(4) on the functions page, delete every function you DO NOT WANT TO USE in the Device Combiner (so retain only Power, Discrete ON and Discrete OFF, I suppose);
NOTE: Now comes the tricky part.:
(5) If you study the upgrade (Setup and Functions Tabs), you will see that those three Power functions use Main Device=128 and sub-device=0. CHANGE the PROTOCOL on the Setup page to "Panasonic" instead of "Panasonic Combo", and enter Device=128, Subdevice=0.
(6) SAVE this upgrade with a new name.
(7) IMPORT THIS UPGRADE into the Device Combiner and those three functions should appear along with the option to set their duration.
(8) The rest should be intuitive. Add the Device and Protocol Upgrades to you IR image, and assign those functions via keymoves as you need them.

EDIT: QUESTION FOR EXPERTS:
When I did what I described above, I get pop-ups that the Panasonic Protocol cannot be used with DC in this remote because th DC can only use built-in protocols, yet the regular upgrade, using Panasonic protocol does NOT call for a protocol upgrade. WTF, over?

I did exactly all the steps as you wrote but I have no idea how to do that:

WHERE do I assign the duration? In the functions sheet I can only change efc, efc5, and hex. the device combiner columm says panasonic:128 0 null null, but i cant change that, and there is also no "duration columm" als explained in the readme of RM.

Need an expert to look at RM and this remote. The "Duration" column is there for other remotes, yet for Dreambox, the DC protocol only seems to work for the version1. For version 2 and 3 it won't even accept the protocol, while for v4, it does not display the duration column.

This is way outside my expertise, but I gave a look at the protocols INI and the device combiner has 2 variations, depending on your processor.

The s3c80 Variant has a duration column, the other version does not have a duration column .

I am really at a loss as to why you are using the "Device Combiner" in the first place.

I popped open the upgrade, changed the remote to your dream remote V4 and all the durations stayed the same. So all you really need to do is copy the device upgrade and the protocol upgrade to IR.

What am I missing? Are you out of upgrade room?

I believe that has just been fixed. Download the latest version of RM and try again.

Thanx a lot! working so fine, i´ve got the duartion colum. But after importing to Ir and uploading to the remote nothing happens. I found out that the EFC for Power is 60806 (for the original working "keeping the finger on the button" remote), the upgraded device with the device combiner says it´s 018.

No idea how to change that...

Then you're doing something wrong. Are you trying to copy the device upgrade into the "add protocol" box (or vice versa).
