1. Device: Sony XR77A80L
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: 2023
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Xfinity
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Y
6. Still have original remote? Y
7. Checked the file section? Y
I know Sony remotes have a 'TV' button that you can set any input to use from the settings menu. I have a cable box on HDMI1 and that's how I have it set.
I ALSO have the 'Channels' input set up with a coaxial antenna attached for over the air as well as some apps with channels like Pluto.
For the life of me, I cannot find a code for the 'Channels' input on a Sony TV. I have tried just about every input I can find on lists here.
I know I could change the 'TV' button to Channels, but I really don't want to. |

since you have the original remote why don't you try to capture the original signal using a decoder with irscrutinizer? |

Because I'm not sure I have hardware that can do that.
Mostly I've never seen a Sony remote with a button for it either.
I also discovered last night that the A80L is the first Sony in 33+ years that I've found the 'Sleep' button doesn't actually work. I'm wondering if there is a new alternate. (Again, there is no actual button on the included remote for this.) |

So you're saying that your OEM remote doesn't have the button that you're looking for, right? So a learning remote or using a decoder with irscrutinizer is irrelevant.
I assume you have found a working upgrade to work your TV otherwise, right? If so, could you please post a link to it.
Normally I would just say to test all the gap OBCs, but I want to see what mixture of Sony device codes this uses first. _________________ Rob

And another question...
I've found that the volume on the current TV requires you hitting the button again and again. Holding up or down has no effect after 1 tick.
The included RF remote does the same thing.
I'd search to see if this has been asked, but I'm not even sure what it's called.
I guess I want the signal to flicker like someone is hitting the button multiple times(?) |

You sure you have Sony instead of a Samsung tv? It's usually Samsung tv's with no-repeating volume commands. _________________ Edmund |
