I am trying to use a cable remote that looks just like an Atlas 4-device cable remote, except the my remote has a WOW cable logo at the bottom.

But IR does not recognize it.

Do I need a new RDF?

Thank you.

**********************************************

P.S: More information:

The sticker in the battery compartment shows "URC-4AXXXB03 A041701".

The EEPROM is labelled a 65P542R, which I believe makes this a JP1.1 remote.

My discrete-device serial JP1.x cable communicates with the device. I get the "double blink" after downloading. The serial cable passed the IR "check interface" test.

After initializing the remote and downloading, memory locations 02F5 through 03F3 were all 00's, whereas in the Atlas 4-Device, RDF, these are all FF's.

If you are able to download the remote, even if IR doesn't recognize it, activate the Raw Download button and then perform a raw download, then post the file as this will help people start a raw RDF for you.

Just FYI, JP1.x remotes are flash remotes and therefore do not have EEPROM chips.

To clarify, in IR, go to "Advanced>Enable Raw Download" and a new button will appear on you General Tab, and after you download, you can read the remote's signature on the Raw Data page (on the right, under the Undo and Apply buttons)

I posted the raw data file in the Diagnostics area.

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=5973

My apologies if that's not the right area.

And, IR states that the remote's signature is CS400102.

That signature alone confirms that you were right about it being JP1.1

I've uploaded an RDF for the Altas XL URC-1047C CS400102 here. It still needs some work in the Buttons section to fill in the rest of the keycodes.

Thank you very much.

Now Ir recognizes the remote.

Is there anything I can do to help "fill in the rest of the keycodes"?

Yes, create macros using all of the buttons and then see how they display in IR.

I've run into a roadblock. I'll have to reset the remote, try some raw data dumps and report back.

***********************************************************
The first macro I entered was for the keys 0-9, and IR recognized them. IR also recognized the macro key as KEY 34 (hex 22).

Then I tried another macro with cable-specific keys like the A, B, C, keys.
IR interpreted the change as a keymove on the TV button.

And I started getting intermittent error messages: "DEVICE TYPE 15 4095 IS NOT CURRENTLY ASSIGNED TO A DEVICE BUTTON."

Those sort of messages happen when the RDF is wrong, so it's not a problem with your remote. If you haven't done so already, enable the Raw Download button (from the Advanced menu) and use that to bypass the RDF when you download.

Thanks. I've updated the RDF to include Macro=$22 in the [Buttons] section. Macro could be a Favorites key. You'll have to check the manual on that though.

Thanks. I've updated the RDF to include your latest keycodes.

Also in IR.exe, if you look at the Raw Data tab and the FA80: row,
you had FA 84 FA 84 00 00. If you change it to
FC 4D FC 6B C4 00 and press the Apply button, you should see the original setup and protocol upgrades before someone did a reset and changed the bytes to FA 84.

Thank you.

I changed those addresses as you recommended and clicked on APPLY.
Now here's what the Protocol tab has, two choices.

But either one is too deep for me.

Protocol $00C4
Protocol $005A

(The Protocol tab, in either instance, also states that the addresses FF00 through FF08 are Byte length, and FF09 through FF14 are Word length.)

I don't need to see the data as I already have it from your uploaded .IR file. I just mentioned it in case you needed those device upgrades and protocol upgrades for controlling the cable equipment.
