Hi Graham,
The user in the above thread was trying to load an upgrade that uses the Roku protocol into a URC-6131 remote and there were 2 things that threw him and caused him to seek help.
1. The setup code in the upgrade was over to 2047 limit that the 6131 has
2. The protocol id (021A) is over the 01FF limit that the 6131 has
Would it be possible for RMIR to help folks like this out by automatically defaulting the setup and PID to something that is in range and that doesn't conflict with anything that the user already has setup in his remote? For example, change the setup code to 2047, but if he already has an upgrade with 2047, try 2046, etc until you find a number that's unused. Likewise for the PID, start with 01FF and keep reducing it until you find one that's clear. If there's a concern that we often use 01FF for home-made executors, start somewhere else, like 01FD or lower.
Any thoughts?
It's easy to forget that, even though this stuff is easy and obvious for us, other less technical folks get intimidated by it. _________________ Rob
