Comcast XR2 cable-lock mode

Post by andyross »

In this thread on another forum:
https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r33421 ... XR2-Remote
the user is complaining that their remote seems to control either the TV or cable box. It almost sounds as if a cable lock mode was disabled. Is there a code to enable/disable that, or is it something only available through JP1?

Is the XR2 remote a JP1 remote? If so, what is the model number or signature?

The cable lock code on uei remotes is 982, enter if you get four blinks is unlocked, if you get two blinks it's locked.

The XR2 is a UEI remote, but it does not have the JP1 pins. Never opened one up to see if it has testpads or similar.

It looks like it's a single device remote when I Googled it looking for pictures. I assume it uses 2 setup codes, one for the STB and one for the TV volume buttons, is that right? And the issue is that when you program the cable code the volume buttons stop working the TV, is that right?
