I have not been successful in learning an IR code from other remotes at all, the screen is ready but never seems to receive codes. I have tried different remotes but still have not had any success. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. _________________ Brad |

Three possibilities:- Your remote is faulty
- There is too much florescent lighting around when you try to do it
- You're not doing it right
Let's determine whether you're doing it wrong. You need to put the Nevo into learn mode first, then only when it's ready start pressing the button on the OEM remote. Make sure that both remotes are lined up properly. I forget whether the learning IR is at the top or the bottom on the Nevo, so confirm that part too.
Dave is our resident Nevo expert, so he may jump in with some more specific advice. _________________ Rob

Thank you for the quick response, I decided to try again after reading your post.
The directions did say to point it the bottom but I was pointing it at the back and the emitter end. The bottom was the other end of the remote opposite of the IR emitter.
I did purchase it as new and it was in the original box so I was hoping it was not faulty and I was at fault.... _________________ Brad |

I think some people (hello Vicky) get confused during the learning process when one of the remotes is upside down, so the rationale behind having the IR learner at the bottom is so that both of the remotes are the same way up.
So, now that you've figured that part out, is the learning working properly? Are you using learning to program the remote, or are you using it to capture the codes used by the device so you can build an upgrade? _________________ Rob

The learning seems to be working okay, I still need to test it. I am not trying to build an upgrade, I have added most of my devices and will try adding activities soon. _________________ Brad |

Are you using learning to program a device for which you don't have a setup code or upgrade? _________________ Rob

I uploaded the upgrade for the Nvidia Shield, two of them. The IreTV one had the OK button but the other did not and I wanted to add that. I ended up teaching another remote the IR code from the IReTv device and then learned it back on the Nevo on the other Shield device.
I have not had a chance to test whether it will work yet, I am waiting for an IR receiver for IReTV still. _________________ Brad |
