has anyone used a Arduino as an interface/programmer for JP1?
i am faces with creating a remote for a LG blueray i need to get running for this weekend
it may have codes that work out of the box but how is that fun?
i want to get JP1 going again with a few of the remotes i dug up recently.
i'll search for the std USB chip interfacy things but was curious about arduino since i have a mini sitting here on my bench |

Yes, you should be able to, as long as it has RTS, GND, TXD and RXD spots that you can connect cables to. Follow the pin designations in the following page:

oh gee man...
i'm no programmer. i cannot design that. i was jst wondering if it was done. brief search didn't produce any hits.
I'm just struggling to find codes to program this 15-2014 to control this silly LG blueray player....
not much luck |

All that is required is that you attach the individual cables that presumably came with the adapter to the 4 lines that I mentioned, then attach them to the relevant pins on the JP1 remote, that's not exactly "programming". May I ask why you purchased the adapter? _________________ Rob

oh there is no adapter.
i was just thinking out fo the box.
i have recently used arduino to program atmel chips etc. so figured it could be easily used for JP1 as well
i am striking out miserably on figuring out how to control this cruddy LG blue ray player.....ill probably just buy a new one
i totally forget all this stuff.
i found a "ALL IN ONE" urc 8781" i had been playing with a long time ago
i created a hack into the atmel seral eeprom. in fact this model has two of those the good old days |

actiually just thinking about it...
if the JP1 interface is basically to access and reprogram the eeprom,
i can probably figure out how to use arduino to get it done.
do you have a schematic of a basic URC remote
it would help me if it was a URC 8781 or a 15-2401 both of which i have on hand. i think i have some others too someplace in the house.
i would document it for the benefit of others |

When you said "Arduino" I assumed you meant you had an adapter like this, which you could simply connect to your remote and would be able to use JP1.
Also, keep in mind that although we still use the term "EEPROM" to refer to the user programmable memory in these remotes, they haven't used actual EEPROMs in a long time, it's all flash memory now.
As for me trying to find schematics for you, you're asking for quite a bit in order to save you just buying an FTDI cable, which can be had for under $10 USD. _________________ Rob
