How to assign macro to URC-1280
Hi,
i want to assign a marco to the AV-Button on my urc1280.
The macro should be device-specific.
If i push the TV-Devicebuttoni would like to power on the amp and switch to HDMI1 when i push the AV-Button.
If i push the SAT-Devicebuttoni would like to power on the amp and switch to HDMI2 when i push the AV-Button.
How coul i achive this?

You will have to test what the URC-1280 will let you do, but generally...
1. macros are not device specific, they take over the bound button in all device modes
2. most device buttons do not allow macros to be bound to them
Here's how I programmed something very similar to what you're trying to do. Rather than use the device buttons, I used the shifted device buttons. The remote probably won't let you do this, but RMIR will. So what you do is, you create a "TV" macro that powers on the amp and selects HDMI1, and has the TV button as one of the last steps, then bind it to the shift-TV button. Then when you want to watch TV, just press SETUP, TV rather than TV. Then do the same for SAT, etc.
If you're not already aware of discrete codes, you will quickly come to know why they're so valuable. If you have already used the TV macro to fire up the system, and then you use the SAT macro, if both macros include the AMP-POWER button, the SAT macro will turn the amp off. But if these macros include a discrete POWER-ON code for the amp, it will work. You will just need a separate macro to power everything off. I use shift-POWER for that myself.

When you say "too bad", did you actually try it out? It might be possible with your specific remote to assign macros to the device buttons, but the only way to know is to try it and see.
I can virtually guarantee you that the remote won't let you do it, but RMIR will let you do it (until we tell it to no longer allow it), so try setting up the macros the way you want in RMIR and load it to the remote and test it. Then let me know if it works, and if it doesn't, I'll update the RDF to prevent the next person from trying it.
If you can't program macros directly to the device buttons, try the shifted device buttons, I would be very surprised if they would not be allowed. And personally, I think using shifted keys is a better idea, because there will occasionally be times where you want to switch to another device mode to do something and you don't necessarily want the macros to fire off each time.
Another alternative for input select codes is to pick a button to be your dedicated HDMI input button, then in each mode program the appropriate keymove to that button.

We never completely trust what the company says on things like this, the only way to truly know the answer is to try it and see. Do you have this remote already or are you evaluating it before deciding whether to buy it?
If you have it, try it and see. But even if the remote doesn't let you program macros to the device buttons, RMIR will let you program them, the question then is whether they work or not.
If you determine that macros cannot be programmed to the device buttons, either on the remote or using RMIR, the next best option almost certainly IS possible and that is programming the macros to shifted device buttons, and personally, I think that is a better option anyway, as you don't always want the macros to fire off every time you press the device buttons.
This same question was asked a few days ago but the OP stopped responding so we never got the actual answer.

Re: How to assign macro to urc1280
the macro is not device-specific, but runs for all devices.fenris wrote:...The macro should be device-specific.
for this to happen, you need to configure a macro on the TV-Devicebutton:fenris wrote:...If i push the TV-Devicebuttoni would like to power on the amp ...
did you try that on your 1280 ?
I've got a 1280 in my hands - just tried adding a macro to TV, and then Shift-TV. The power button flashes once, but no macros appear to be triggered. I did a factory reset on the remote before loading in the upgrades etc. to try with. The upgrades appear to be working - just no macros on the device keys it seems. (shifted or otherwise)

So the remote wouldn't let you program macros to the device buttons, shifted or not, which is as expected.
Next, have you tried assigning macros to the device buttons from RMIR and then tested them on the remote? I expect the non-shifted device buttons to NOT work, and I expect the shifted device buttons TO work.

Sorry for not being more clear - I was working from RMIR, not on the remote itself to perform a macro operation on the TV button - I tried both with and without the shift - the remote behaved in the same way.The Robman wrote:So the remote wouldn't let you program macros to the device buttons, shifted or not, which is as expected.

The macro is fairly basic:
AMP
1
TV
Shift-1
SAT
The power button which doubles as the LED only flashes once - which is the same thing that happens when pushing on device buttons without a macro assigned.
PS - if I move the macro to a non-device button, it works as expected. (eg. shift-RED)
PPS - my remote = signature 359802 - just realized there is more than 1 version of the 1280 out there.

If you tested it on shift-RED, I take that to mean that you do know how to test a shifted button, which means that the device buttons are out for macros, including shifted-device buttons, which surprises me as those usually work.

I think so ... setup + button (TV/RED in my case) on this remote, right? I tried both the device button (TV) and then RED button using the same method after a quick reprogram. Setup + TV results in a single flash, and nothing seems to happen to the equipment. Setup + RED results in two flashes and the macro works as expected. The Robman wrote:If you tested it on shift-RED, I take that to mean that you do know how to test a shifted button, which means that the device buttons are out for macros, including shifted-device buttons, which surprises me as those usually work.
Pressing on the device buttons (with devices assigned or not) results in a single flash on this remote.
