|
|
Hello all,
I have been studying and learning and trying to figure out how to program my UEI 1055B2 and thx to 3FG I have it mostly working, but I am stuck on one final EFC (actually 2) and have spent more time than I want to trying to figure out how to convert HEX to EFC. Hoping someone who is already setup to do this could help me finish this project. I'll fill in the required template then add at the end all that I have so far. The function I need is INPUT NEXT and INPUT LAST, or something to that effect, or if available a direct "go to input CD" etc.
I also found from the mfr, a sheet which has the OBC codes and they are
RC5
Device :20
OBC 32 and 33
1. Device: Audio Refinement Complete Integrated amp
2. Type of device: Amplifier
3. Year: ~2006
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: UEI 1055BC2
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? no
6. Still have original remote? no
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? yes 1781
10. Learning remote question? no
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? yes
So what is working so far is device code 1781 setup for AUX and the following EFCs.
vol up 37497
vol down 37501
mute 37453
power 37389
I have found a site that has PRONTO HEX and UEI HEX for this amp, but I can't figure out how to convert. This is the link to that site's page.
http://irdb.tk/find/
I think what I need is listen up/down, not quite sure.
This is the Pronto Hex for LISTEN+
0000 0073 0000 000B 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0CA8
For LISTEN-
0000 0073 0000 000A 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0CC8
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if it is relatively simple to do myself, I wouldn't mind learning over the Christmas break, but for now just want to get this one function added into my remote.
Thank you!
Cheers |

I believe you are using VCR/1781 with these EFCs, if you wanted to use an actual AUDIO code, I believe the any of the following would work: 1189, 1269, 1289.
Try these EFC5s:
37397 AMP
37389 POWER
37497 VOL/CD/TUNER+
37501 VOL/CD/TUNER-
37453 MUTE
37561 INPUT NEXT
37565 INPUT LAST
37525 TUNER
37517 CD
37613 PLAY
37601 STOP
37577 LISTEN/PRESET/TRACK-
37573 LISTEN/PRESET/TRACK+
Rather than trying to figure out how to convert from OBC or HEX to EFC, just download the RM program and look at the following file, if you have any further OBCs you want to add, just add them to the Functions tab and set the device code to 20 and it will calculate the EFC5 values for you.
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=26187
For JP1 users who want to add this, I have created another version using the regular RC5 protocol:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=26188
If the manufacturers list that you found has additional codes listed, please share the list with us. _________________ Rob

Robman, you da man!
Just got in from chaining up the Bobcat and found your reply. Quickly tried the input next/previous, but no go, tried the LISTEN/PRESET/TRACK - etc. and IT WORKS!
Thank you so much, and to 3FG who got me started on this yesterday and found the 1781 code for me and from 2014 the other EFCs I mentioned above.
I see you added the 1781 file, thank you, as I am an electronics/computer nut, I would like to learn about this so I will continue reading over the holidays as you obviously know exactly what you are doing and made this look easy.
Now I should be able to use this 1055BC2 remote to transmit to my Harmony and have everything in one place, or any of my other learning remotes. Wish you could see the living room....I have borrowed 9 different remotes to finally find one I can program with the buttons and not have to "upgrade" or make cables are create and upload USB files.
Anyway, I really appreciate your time and effort to help me with this. In 100 words or less, could you tell me what you did to figure this out please and thanks? If it takes more than 100 words then I don't want to bother you.
OK QUICK UPDATE I installed RM and opened up your file, very cool, but I can't see anywhere in there where the 5 digit EFC5 codes you gave me come from. The ones in RM all start with 00. ??
Cheers and Merry Christmas.
PS here is a chart that I found for the Audio Refinement Pre-2DSP, which has more OBCs than I mentioned, but not sure if they are relevant to the Integrated amp. It's on page 13.

I think you opened the upgrade that I published for regular JP1 users (those EFCs would start with 00), but you should notice that I created a different upgrade file just for you.
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=26187
So what did I do, well first I took the 1781 code that you mentioned and looked up what audio/1781 uses and found it to be an NEC1 signal, so I knew that wasn't it. I have a spreadsheet that I have compiled over the years of what signal each setup code uses. You appeared to be using RC5 signals, but the 5 digit EFC codes that you were posting implied that the executor uses a 2-byte signal, which lead me to believe that the setup code you were using must be using the RC5/5x Combo executor, so I brought up a list of setup codes that use that executor and found that VCR/1781 was one of them.
So now I know what executor to select in RM and I know a few of the EFC codes that I need to enter. When I entered them, RM told me that they were all RC5 signals, with device code 20, which matched what you had mentioned for the INPUT buttons that you were looking for.
Next, I went to the IRDB page and searched for your amp, and found the rest of the codes, which I also entered into RM, this time using OBCs in order to make RM generate the EFC codes.
Given what you have said about yourself, you really need to either buy a JP1 cable for your 1055 remote, or you should buy a JP1 remote that comes with its own USB cable because if you discover how to use JP1 and get a good remote that works with it, you'll forget all about your Harmony. _________________ Rob

Awesome Rob, thank you. Just got in from the shop so I will digest it all in the morning, but yes, I have a USB to RS-232 cable here and will adapt it to the 6 pins for JP1. I just need to find it. May be easier just to buy another. I have a ton of .1" female headers so it will be easy to fab something.
Ya, Harmony has frustrated me from day 1. The company I was doing installs for were big on Harmony but it drove me nuts trying to fix f*ups in front of the customer that should have been an easy fix, but......wasn't. I just got used to having this one on the coffee table and it worked for what I needed until I decided to start streaming FLAC from a remote computer and ...well you don't need all the details.
Yes, you nailed it, I opened the wrong file. DOH!
And now reading your message again, I think I was mistaken as the 1781 code I entered was into "AUX", not "AUD", and as I found today that none of the 3 codes you suggested , 12xx, worked on either AUD or AUX, as well, 1781 wasn't accepted in AUD, only AUX. Also forgot to mention the remote's ID is 3033.
I am beat and may not be making 100% sense, been outside working all day in the cold....again, thank you so much for the help and for explaining your thought process...like I said, I will be able to really get into this when I can sit down and focus on the process and software.
For now, very happy that I can switch inputs and volume without having to get up every 2 minutes to do it manually. (although the exercise would do me no harm)
Oh, the 1781 was a suggestion from 3FG from a 21781 code that worked in an M1067 for a person back in 2014, as did the 4 or 5 EFC5 codes that I published. It was on old thread but got me started ... http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/whichremote/thread.cgi?2055

Yeah, if you see my last post, I found that thread too while doing research for this. I was actually trying to find where you got OBC 32 and 33 from.
And according to my files, the 3033 has the following setup codes that would all work with the EFCs that you've been using. I don't have first hand knowledge of the 3033 remote, so I can't say which device button each code would work under.
Tuner/1189
Tuner/1269
Tuner/1289
TV/0855
TV/1154
VCR/1781 _________________ Rob
