I use the extender, V2.11, but wanted to try to learn the codes from an hdmi switcher remote (if the signals are compatible). So I deactivated it according to the readme (assigned deactivate to a physical key). I can now put the remote into learning mode as confirmed by the fast blinking, but it always fails to learn the signals, whether it's coming from this obscure remote or from another one of my 1056 remotes. It seems to time out and then it does the long blink that indicates it failed to learn.

I tried new batteries and otherwise followed the instructions in the OCAP manual, but to no avail. I also tried the standard (non-JP1) approach to setting device codes and confirmed that I can control my TV, so it seems to more or less be working as a stock/non-extender remote.

Any chance the problem could relate to having installed the extender previously? Any steps I might've missed that could be causing this? Could the remote think the memory for learned signals is full or something?

Did learning work before you installed the extender? Very few OCAPs are learners.

I'm pretty sure it did but it's been many years since I've done it so it's possible I'm thinking of a different remote. It does go into learning mode with the rapid blinking. Is it possible it could go into learning mode if it doesn't support learning? The manual I referenced which has instructions for learning says "M1056L" so it at least seems to be part of the 1056 line.

Yes.

Do you see "1056B01-L" anywhere on the remote? The "L" means learning.

Well that explains it then. I'll have to dig through old remotes to see if I still have one that's capable of learning. Thank you!
