Although I am the current developer of RMIR, it has some features that I have never used and do not understand. I am careful not to touch the code for these in my development work, but I would prefer to understand them so that I can test that they are still working.

One of these is that RMIR can open Sling Learned Signals (.xml) files. This is an entry on the file type dropdown in the RMIR File > Open dialog. I've looked on the Wiki and in the Slingbox forum and can find no explanation of what these file are. Any info would be useful, please.

I don't have any recollection, I think Greg will have to weigh in on this one.

Some years ago Sling went through a phase of fitting an IR receiver to their boxes. They then implemented a method of creating new remotes by using a learn function. I was a BETA tester on the program and unfortunately was one of many who found that it really didn't work well enough to be released. The theory was good but the learning system was just too intermittent. After a few months Sling withdrew the system. I think the .xml file was the result of this learning system.
