|
|
Hi,
In the "JP1 Cables" wiki page (and similar "Choose the right JP1/JP1.x interface cable - Read this first" forum thread), there are a number of different cables listed for JP1, JP1.1, JP1.2 and JP1.3.
There is mention of JP1.4 in the list of interface types and there are a number of JP1.4 remotes listed in the Remote Chart. However, I can't seem to find which cable is needed for a JP1.4 remote. It's noted that JP1.4 is a flash-type remote rather than EEPROM. However, looking at the designs for flash interfaces, only JP1.1, JP1.2 and JP1.3 designs are listed. There seems to be no JP1.4 design. No mention is made of cables for JP1.4 interfaces in any of the aforementioned wiki pages or forum threads.
Is it possible to interface with a JP1.4 remote and if so, which cable does one need?
Thanks,

JP1.4 uses the same cable as JP1.3, or JP1.x. We simply haven't gone back and updated all references every time a new, backward compatible interface comes out. |

I see, thanks.

I don't think it's necessary to go back and update all references. It might be worth adding your first sentence to the "Interface Types" section of the wiki page though. |

The term JP1.x is meant to imply JP1.2, JP1.3, JP1.4, etc.
Bottom line, just get an FTDI or Prolific cable as described in the Wiki or below and you'll be all set.
