I purchased an Insignia NS-RMT415 on Ebay.
It looks like the one sold by Best Buy.

However, the signature blink back is 36601.
The label indicates (battery compartment)
URC67100BC1-002-R
Rmir download fails Sad
No RDF matches signature starting 3660
Raw download works
I tried copying the 358403 NS-RMT415 RDF and saving it as 36601 but
apparently should be six digits/and or the signature is also needed
inside the file.

Hey Jim, I will help you with this. First things first, save the raw download and post it here in the Diagnosis Area. Then, see if the remote supports macros. If it does, start creating macros that include all of the buttons. I would suggest using the 4 color buttons to hold the macros. Once you captured all the buttons in macros, post those RMIR raw download files too.

I will PM you for some additional tasks.

I thought I was buying a remote not yet another DIY project.

Here's a starter RDF, but I'll need that macro exercise completed in order to get the button codes in there.

Yellow is supposed to be the numbers but doesn’t appear to send anything.

I don’t know how to add phantom and dev buttons to a macro.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

I don't need you to do Phantoms, because Phantoms aren't "real", they're just gaps in the button codes that you find. There's nothing special about device buttons though, so you add them in the same way you would any other buttons.

I forgot to mention, I need you to list what each button in the macros are.

That's great. The only button you didn't capture was the SETUP button, but I was able to guess at that. This version of the RMT415 appears to only have 1 phantom device mode and it's an audio mode. I have included it in the RDF, so please test whether it really works. Otherwise, I think this RDF is complete, so play with it and see if you find any problems.

I am getting

Download aborting due to incomplete read

Also how many devices does this remote support (4, 5, 8 or ?)
The rdf for the other version appears to show eight.

I don’t think you can put setup in a macro using 995.

That's a new one for me, I have no idea. Obviously, all I can do here is open the .ir files that you post, I can't test it with the remote. Have you tried opening the .ir files that you created with it?

jeajea wrote:

Yeah, like I said above, I only found 1 phantom device in this one, not 4 like in the previous version.

Hmm, maybe it's restricted in this remote then, because it's allowed in most of the others. That's how non-JP1 users would put a shifted key in a macro.

Other than the raw dumps I don’t have any ir files for this remote.

The instructions say to use the setup key at the end of the macro. That is
how I created the macros.

6. TAP "SETUP" and wait for two blinks - RELEASE.

The .ir files that I'm talking about are the raw dumps, ie, the original one and the ones with macros.

You do indeed press and hold SETUP to end a macro, but you can also use it as a regular button in a macro. I just verified it on a couple of my remotes just to prove I wasn't imagining it. But it's no matter, there was only 1 button code missing, so that must have been the SETUP code button.

Now that you've done a master reset, try downloading from the remote again (ie, using the RDF).

I get the same error after both 981 and 980 resets.
FYI: I got the same error with the “starter” RDF.
