LK IR 180 CR Dimmer? Pronto conversion?
Hello all!
Now I'm in control of my A/V equipment, I want to control my dimmer too. The manufacturer provides the following codes for their "IHC system", which is a complete home automation solution, but I suspect the codes to work with the dimmer as well. Unfortunately the codes are for pronto remote. Does anybody know, if it's possible to convert them to RM format?
Regards
Rasmus

This is an unusual signal. Here's the scoop:
freq: 460 kHz
1 = +44 -228
2 = +44 -109
3 = +44 -424
leadout = +44 -4348

Because this signal has an outrageously high carrier frequency, my intention is to first create an upgrade without assembler that replicates the signal for one button and then have Rasmus test it, because if that doesn't work there's no point in continuing.
Assuming we can get that to work, the next step is to write assembler. We could do it without assembler, but it would take 5 bytes of code per button.
I haven't decided yet whether to send the signal manually or to try and format the signal correctly and let the IR engine send it. I don't know which is easier and more to the point, which takes less code.

It does make a difference because the only assembler language that I can write in is S3C8 (never bothered to learn the others), but as Vicky has promised to convert anything that I write into HCS08 also, you'll still be covered.
Vicky, I was thinking of trying to do this by using a mid-stream burst to create the 3rd pair, but looking at it further, I don't think that's possible, so I will be using assembler logic to format the signal.

Since you posted this in October, and have since changed remotes, do you actually have a JP1.2 compatible cable to go allong with the new JP1.2 remote?4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Dreambox 7020-S URC-39730 B02-00
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
There are a lot of differences between JP1.2 remotes, its not just limited to language and chips.

Hey Rasmus,
I finally got around to trying to create an upgrade for you. This one is only programmed for your old Dreambox remote, but if it works, we'll try to convert it to HCS08 code for your URC-7781.

Hi Rob!The Robman wrote:Hey Rasmus,

Thanks a lot. I have tested the upgrade, but I get the same result, as when I tried another home automation upgrade found on hifi-remote.
When the dimmer enters the programming state (this is neccessary in order to get the dimmer to know which button to respond to), the dimmer flashes the lamp on and off. When pressing a button on the remote, the dimmer responds by turning down the light to a very dimmed, but constant level.
After this, the remote is supposed to work, but when I press the button on the remote, the light doesn't turn on/off - it just flickers slightly.
I guess this means the dimmer can see the signal, but it is not the correct signal, or maybe the dimmer is defective.
I am thankful, that you gave it a shot. Unless you have another great idea, I now think I will buy the remote, even though it is expensive and ugly and I need it only for 5 minutes to learn the signal. If I get that far, I will of course upload an upgrade...
You can see it here in the users guide http://www1.lk.dk/katalog/vejledning/97208_01.pdf
It is in danish, but you can see the pictures...
Thanks for trying and happy easter
/Rasmus
EDIT: BTW, the BEO4 remote mentioned in this thread
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... hlight=b+o
, should be able to control my dimmer. LK and B&O are sharing some knowhow, including type of remote signal, but unfortunately I don't know an owner of the BEO4...
It is supposed to be the "light" button, and then one of the four coloured buttons...

If you think the BEO4 remote will work with your dimmer, we have an upgrade for the BEO4 here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... file_id=72
I will try capturing the signals from my upgrade using my Pronto to see if I get the same pronto hex as above.

I have now bought the remote, and made an upgrade which can be found here:

What do you say, Rob? Were we even close?

Nope, those pronto codes that you posted must be for something else.
Do you still have your IR file with the learned signals in it, if so can I see it?

Hmm - then my guess was wrong. Then the remote for LK's home automation system doesn't work for their dimmer as well...

I forgot to mention, that all your work, including all the tools and the knowhow is really awesome. This site is in deed a gift to all OFA-remote fans... Thanks!
