Hello!
I have a little question I need to ask, but first, some info:
My remote: URC-7542 with JP1 holes only and no EEPROM.
Device that I want to control: Samsung HT-D5500 (home theater/blu-ray combo)
Specifically after: Dolby Pro Logic II (PLII)-button
Original remote is missing.
Have not succeeded in finding a built-in setup code in my URC-7542 that can even power on the HT-D5500. I used the built-in search function, I tried OFA:s own tool and I've tried this site's JP1 lookup tool.
The question:
Am I correct in assuming that the only way of getting this to work is to:
install an EEPROM chip and a JP1 pin header in my remote
and
take a device upgrade file (perhaps "Samsung HT-C5550.rmdu" from the File Section?) and transfer it's data to the remote using Remote Master and a JP1 cable?
Thanks! |

I think your summary is correct, you would need to modify the remote and get a JP1 cable in order to add the code to the remote. This is an older JP1 remote, and nobody makes JP1 cables anymore, so you'd need to get an FTDI cable and a JP1 adapter as described here.
It might be cheaper to find one of the newer remotes that comes with a USB cable or can be programmed using Bluetooth. _________________ Rob

Thanks!
I managed to do what I want using an alternative method. I have a Nokia E51 with an app called Psiloc Irremote installed on it. I downloaded "Samsung HT-C5550.rmdu" from the file section here and used IrScrutinizer to open the file and read the raw codes from it. Then I used an online wizard on the irremote website to convert the raw codes into a preset file for the mobile and it worked! |
