I have not tried using the function button in its own mode. I can't imagine I would ever use it that way personally. I can give that a shot sometime this week.
I also haven't tried keymoves from RMIR. I am a bit shy about making manual edits to the RDF. Perhaps at some point later.
(Note: I see that this remote has temporarily disappeared from eBay, except for from Canada. The audience for these remotes might be quite limited. I suspect that's the challenge of keeping RMIR up-to-date. It's a great piece of software, but I wonder if it's sustainable?) |

I just placed an order for a couple of them myself earlier today because I like the letters over the number buttons (useful for doing program searches on the TV). Although looking again, I might be getting the B1 version:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/173132784370
Actually, here's a B2:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/142917977011
As for whether it's sustainable, we've been going since late 2000, so I'll take my chances, lol. _________________ Rob

I think the B1 RDF could likely use some improvement in any event (already have one). I bought a new one only because the battery cover rattles in my existing remote, which is annoying, and the new one ended up being the B2.
I think the 2025 has about just the right number of buttons. |

Regarding keymoves, sometimes remotes support them even if they don't let you program them, we have seen cases in the past where we can program keymoves using RMIR and they work, even if the 994 function is missing. While I doubt that that is the case here, you can vertainly try it if you like. To enable keymoves in RMIR, edit the RDF and add segments 07 and 08.
To do that, look for this line:
SegmentTypes=$00 $01 $10 $13 $14 $17 $18 $1A
and replace it with this:
SegmentTypes=$00 $01 $07 $08 $10 $13 $14 $17 $18 $1A |
Hi, I did the suggested RDF edit for Keymoves and got the KeyMoves tab with correct datafill menus in RMIR. Using the PIP on/off key I defined a keymove for each device to toggle the TV power. (I have similiar setup working succesfully on my 1056B03). The upload was successful but the operation was not, results did not make any sense at all.
Cable - toggled TV aspect ratio and changed device to TV
TV - Toggled TV power
Audio - no effect of any kind
DVD - toggled TV power and also changed device to TV
Since the RDF file was changed quite a few times, I am going to rebuild my upgrades in RM from scratch using the latest RDF file, maybe there is some corruption somwehere.
Rob, do you have the latest changes applied?
Thanks, |

Yes, the latest RDF is uploaded to the link that is earlier in this thread.
I would recommend deleting any RMIR files that you have built using any earlier versions. _________________ Rob

Upload to the remote is successful.
I note several errors in the keymap:
4 registers 3
3 registers 4
7 registers 8
8 registers 7
Ch+/Ch- & Vol+/Vol- are reversed. |
Hi Rob, did you get a chance find the root cause of these errors?
I downloaded the latest RDF, Map, Jpg package Ver 8 to do some keymove testing but upon installing the TV 1250 upgrade, these errors still remian. Probably not a good idea to do keymove testing until all the basic bugs are fixed.
Just in case more debug info is needed see this file:

Found my problem, I had extra copies of URC-2025 B2.map and URC-2025 B2.jpg from some of my previous hacking on my own. Note the extra space before the B2. These were in addition to your files which I updated using the copy/replace procedure. Once I deleted my extra files the issue cleared up.
My bad - My apologies
Now onto keymove testing. |

Hi, I did some testing with keymoves but was not successfull at all. Assingned the TV "Power" function to the on/off PIP button for all 4 devices.
Test results are:
Cable mode: cable button flashed, sent some weird 3D PIP code to cable box
Tv Mode: no TV device blink. no code I guess
Audio Mode: no Audio device blink. no code I guess
DVD Mode:no DVD device blink. no code I guess
What are your thoughts Rob? Do you think its possible to have keymoves even though there is no support built in?
I think that without keymoves this remote is a quite crippled.

Thanks Ted, I think that pretty much confirms that the remote does not support keymoves. _________________ Rob

Hi Rob, a question: How closely is this remote related to the 1056B03? Reason I am asking is that mathdon developed an extender for the latter to give it keymoves along with DSM capability. I have been using it for years, its been ultra stable and made that remote so much more useful.
Do you think the B2 would be worth the effort and have big enough audience for such an upgrade, if its capable of one.
I have been running the B2 for a day now and like some of its features, feels good in the hand, nice backlightings and the really well laid out transport keys.
I think you have a B2 on order, maybe after you examine it closely you can give a more feedback on its capabilities.
Thanks

When I took a 2nd look at the remotes that I ordered on ebay, I think they're actually the earlier version of the URC-2025, which might be good news for me as it appears that model does support keymoves.
I'm not an extender writer, but I believe it is possible in theory to write an extender that would add keymover ability, the question is, whether anyone has the time or motivation to do it. _________________ Rob

Yep, got to love this stuff to provide the freebies to the masses.
Anyway I am not going to be around to do any testing for the next 2 weeks but will check in once in a while, just to keep up on any action.
Thanks to all

The B1, like the B2, does not support keymoves. It also has less memory for upgrades IIRC. |

Ah, then the RDF is incorrect for the B1, like you said. _________________ Rob
