Some experiments using different setup codes that are known to at least operate some aspects of the TV.

Here are the results of sending 5 digit EFC codes 0000 to 00255 under each setup code.

* Interestingly, I mistyped an EFC and entered 00781 and it did something. So I wondered about EFC higher than 00255. I found this post/page:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=97560#97560

Code:
Function EFC device OBC
discrete off   62157   RC5   0   61
discrete on   62149   RC5   0   63
av1   59945   RC5   3   4
av2   62173   RC5   0   57
av3   60121   RC5   3   56
hdmi1   60125   RC5   3   57
hdmi2   59605   RC5   3   123
hdmi3   59937   RC5   3   6
side   60113   RC5   3   58
format auto   60109   RC5   3   61
tuner   59417   RC5   3   72

Using setup 11454 all of these 5-digit EFC bring up the Source List.

Except the last one Tuner/59417, which does nothing.

I'm thinking I'm out of luck, but I'm happy to try more if the above info sheds any new light?

I had assumed your original file was most like 10054 which is a simple RC-5 protocol where 00000-00255 makes sense. Codes like 11454 use the more complex RC-5/5x Combo where 0-255 doesn't make sense. With those, the huge 6xxxx series numbers are used and are not suitable for brute force searches. The code snipped you posted is EFCs for yet another protocol RC5/6 combo. So those numbers don't make sense when used with 11454.

On simple protocols, the EFCs repeat every 256 codes. So 781 = 525 = 269 = 13 = ch 7 on 10054. On complex protocols, the EFCs are also complex and are not only encrypted but different parts represent different parameters besides just the OBC. So there is no systematic way to try every possibility manually. You'd have to create all 256 possible codes in RMIR and load those into your remote in stages in order to test them all.

Having said all that, if your search of 10054 didn't turn up anything, you are indeed out of luck as we have already proven in our previous tests that RC6 and RC-5 Device 3 codes don't do anything (except 0100 Smart Picture).

The only other thing I can think of to try is see if multiple presses of Source List can get you to the desired input with fewer commands.

Well, I use 11454 only because it's listed first in the Philips TV section of the Insignia code list.

There are subtle differences between 11454 and 10054 in my usage. One thing that springs to mind is that on 11454 pressing menu twice shows&hides, but on 10054 it only shows - the second press does not dismiss. But really I could use either and have no preference.

Multiple presses of source list was the first thing I tried, even with the original remote, but it just shows/hides Source List rather than cycling through the sources.

My next idea is to try to disable all inputs other than HD in the service menu. I have the service manual so I can restore factory defaults if required.
(edit: that didn't work, whilst the sources are disabled they remain in the menu and are simply skipped during navigation)

Thanks for all your help on this!

I'll keep at it.
