General JP1 chit-chat. Developing special protocols, decoding IR signals, etc. Also a place to discuss Tips, Tricks, and How-To's.

Years ago b4 i ever heard of JP1, I owned a Sony beta vcr
It was in a room with a patio door and a lot of sunlight.
One day while the sun was coming in I pushed a button on the remote
and I got a feature that was not available on my model but was available on the next
more expensive model. I do not remember what feature it was and could not duplicate it.
So question is Is it even possible that the sunlight caused it or did the vcr just have a hic-cup.
A JP1 remote would have come in handy back then.
I am betting my vcr had the features and a different remote would have activated them.
Any thought on the sunlight dilemma ?

I've never heard of sunlight having that effect, but if it were me, I'd be breaking out a JP1 remote and running through all 256 possible OBCs to see what else the unit could do.

Too bad i did not know about jp1 at that time
Over time it blew out a voltage regulator I replaced that
and it kept working for many years but eventually
a lightning storm killed it beyond my repair skills at that time
