Looks good loft, my only thought is should this be in the cable box folder or digital STB folder? I'm not really clear on what a DVB-T2 receiver is. _________________ Rob

I'm not sure what is a cable box.
But this device's use kind of fits the definition here, with the detail that it is used for DVB-T2. It is basically a digital tuner that spits TV content through HDMI to my older TV.
So I might have put the device upgrade in the wrong section. |

A cable box is a decoder box supplied by a cable TV company so you can see the content that you pay for from their cable service.
This box sounds like it's pulling free TV off the air and reformats it so that you can view it with an older TV, is that right? If so, I will move it to the digital STB folder.
STB just means "set top box", which would apply to a cable box, satellite box, free tv box, etc.
In the old days it was easy as we just had cable boxes and satellite boxes, but now there's all sorts of boxes, like yours for OTA digital tv and others for steaming, etc so it is much harder to know where to put them, which is why we created the some what generic Digital STB folder. _________________ Rob

Just put everything into STB: internet TV, cable decoders, satellite receivers, terrestrial TV receivers. In the end they are all set-top boxes.
Although, with today's thin TV's, they mostly sit under the TV. |
