I was building an Onkyo AV Receiver Upgrade from 2 downloaded Device. These functions were all NEC1 Device 210 Sub-Device 108 or 109. This upgrade worked using NEC1 Protocol. However a few functions were missing. Learning from original remote showed most of these functions were NEC1-116 Device Code 210 Sub device 31. (this seems to use OBC2 codes instead of OBC codes.

can?how do I combine these protocols. Usinf NEC1-116 didn't seem to work for either typ of function and other protocals I tried didn't have column for OBC2 codes.

Help please.

TIA

You can combine normal NEC1 or NEC2 signals using the various NEC combo executors (eg, NEC 4DEV Combo), but I don't even know what NEC1-116 is, so I don't know of anyway to combine it. Could you post your RMIR file that shows the NEC1-116 learns?

We have an assortment of Nec combo protocols. I'm thinking that you have an 8810 correct? The only built in Nec combo is a very simple combo that combines Nec1 signals that have the same device with different sub devices.

You mention Nec1 116, was the Nec1-F16? If so then you need the Nec1-f16 code that allows you to use a mix of devices and subdevices. When talking about an F16 code, this means it uses NEC timings, but the second byte of data in a frame isn't a complement of the OBC.

I'd try the Nec1-F16 Official

Rob, I saved an image of the remote with the learned signals. How do i post that?

Below is an example(I copied and pasted)"

We have a file section here (link at the top of this page). From there, look for the Diagnosis Area. Post the file there, then click on the File Section link again and there will be a link to your file next to the folder as it will be the newest file there. Cut & paste the link into this thread so that we don't need to search for it.

Ah, so it's NEC-f16, not NEC-116, this one we have. If you want an upgrade that just contains these functions, you can use NEC-f116 3Fixed, but if you want to combine them with all the other NEC1 functions, you would have to use NEC1-f16 Official, but you will have to populate all the codes and for the regular NEC1 functions, you would have to calculate OBC2 (as 255-OBC1).

Vicky, I do have an 8811, but I am working with my Atlas 1056 Silver. When I try NEC1-F16 (I was reading it as 116 with the small font in RMIR), I try to enter data for one NEC1 and one NEC1-F16 command and upload. Neither function works,

For NEC1-F16 Official RM deletes OBC Column and adds OBC1 and OBC2 columns. EFC defaults to 111 and sub device defaults to 39. I'm not sure How to enter my NEC! function. I tried EFC but that didn't changes OBC1 o OBC2 columns.

For the NEC1-F16 Intered the OBC2 I had from learned signal and changed sub device to 31, but OBC1 stays at at zero.

I need some guidance on using NEC1=F16 Official Protical?

Ok I just built a simple two function upgrade. I was able to get the NEC1 function to work by plugging in OBC into OBC1 and making OBC2 = 255 - OBC.

The NEC1-F16 Function I tried (see line 3 of my copy and paste above) didn' work. I used 9 as OBC2 and tried OBC1 as the default 0 and as 246. Neither worked.

Here are 2 simple upgrade files, one using the Official executor where you have to enter all the data on each button, and a second using the fixed executor:

It apnpears my origal remote send different commands for certain keys after different sources are selected. When carefully selecting the source the function I was trying to make work turned out to be a NEC1 command. I added it to my original upgrade and it works. So as of now I can do what I need with the NEC1 Combo Protocol.

Now to try and understand my original remote a bit better.

Sounds like your original remote is really a universal of sorts. Maybe, once you select CD input it switches to the code for an Onkyo CD player?
