I found the correct IR hex code for TV# 12049 FFwd, 7D. It was one away from Rew, 7E.

EFC
00008 FFwd.

Think about upgrading your remote, the Onn 6 is pretty cheap and has both 4398 & 4740 on board:

I broke down and ordered one.
What is the difference between 4398 & 4740?

Code 4398 will work on all Roku tv brands, code 4740 will only work on Hisense & Sharp Roku tv's.

Is the Onn a UEI remote?
Will it take the same EFC codes?

If you get the Right Onn universal 6 remote, yes its UEI remote. The one I linked to is UEI made remote. And it will accept efc's, but if you're asking if the efc's between code 4398 & 4740 are the same, no they're not. The only efc in this thread for the code 4740 are listed on page nine, all other efc's in 10 pages will work with code 4398.

Because of Roku update Roku's no longer accept number keys on Live Tv Guide, numbers are no longer there. Sad

They are different on my current universal, too.

Are Charter EFCs [@12183] & Onn EFCs [@4740] the same as each other?
Are they the same between Charter [#12049] & Onn [4398]?

My Hisense H4 TV just started accepting channel numbers and it has the latest software upgrade. When I retested a discovered second Info key [in Goldstar #12183], it was working as a Radix for the channel number system. When I tested the Dynex code set [#12049], it acknowledged channel numbers, too, but I had not discovered the Radix EFC, yet.

Also, number keys are included on Hisense EN2A27 remote (which I ordered*), but I am not sure that all its keys will work on an H4 TV. (Owners of that remote cannot be happy...)

*I am hoping that it will give me a working Live TV key and clarify what IR hex 7F (and repeat at FF) is supposed to do.

PS: Is "OBC" the decimal form of what I am calling the IR hex code?

TV/4740 uses the Roku protocol with device code 4, sub-device 251.

Just for reference, the other 2 Roku codes are:

Roku STBs:
234.194 - CBL/3061, 5687

Roku TVs:
234.199 - CBL/4410, Game/1151, TV/4398

As you know, I'm always curious to know the OBCs for stuff like this, so here's your list using OBCs:

008 - Power
098 - Starz
100 - YuppTV
130 - Volume Up
131 - Volume Down
137 - Mute
154 - Sleep Timer
155 - Spotify
175 - Options
197 - SlingTV
198 - Showtime
199 - Prime
201 - Rdio
203 - Vudu
204 - Netflix
209 - HBO Max
210 - YouTube
220 - Hulu
231 - Directv Stream
232 - Crackle
233 - Paramount+
234 - Roku Ch
235 - ESPN
246 - AV In
252 - HDMI1
253 - HDMI2
254 - HDMI3

These OBCs are true when you subtract 128, too.

I get an acknowledgement for OBCs 127 & 255, but no obvious action.
And I cannot find a Live TV key.

Hopefully, a Hisense EN2A27 remote will clear that up for me.

It turns out that many of the keys on the EN2A27 do not work as intended on my Hisense Roku TV (model year 2020).

Hisense Roku tv's use a different code from Hisense Android tv's and Hisense Fire tv's. And then non-branded smart Hisense tv's models use completely different code sets too.

My TV and the remote are both Hisense Roku.

My TV is the Hisense H4 model.
The EN2A27 is for 4K Roku TVs.
(Mine may not be a 4K. The user manual is not clear on that spec.)

The EN2A27 is not Roku tv remote, not one of the many Tv models listed for that remote is Roku tv. You bought the wrong remote period. As you found out, it doesn't work on Roku tv's.

It has the Roku shortcut keys and they share some keys in common.

Turning to the Onn universal,

#4398 had a different vendor code [EAC7] than the previously recommended Dynex set [8605]. It had a sparse instruction set with the options key [*] notably not included. The keys worked, but their different key map made them more difficult find undocumented keys. To its credit, the IR's high bit was set with a continuous press, like the OEM remote.

Onn's Dynex set [#2049] had more available keys than Charter's [12049]. It had the FFwd key correctly assigned, but continued to assign the Pause key to Replay2.

Onn's #4740 & #2183 were both Goldstar-based sets [vendor #04FB].
The former did not include Options [*], Channel Radix [-] nor Sleep (which I do not use) buttons. It had the correct FFwd key, though.

I see what you mean about the availability of EFCs in 4398.

Since 14398 is not available on the C4000, is there another device code that uses the same vendor ID [#EAC7]? (Even if it is poorly populated, I can add keys as needed.)
