Wiki
I'm on a journey trying to come up to speed on RMIR and the new remotes, and I must say that mdavej has done a great of documenting RMIR.
I didn't know where to look and the search feature in the Wiki put me right on the page. So much easier than searching the forums ever was.
I don't know if you all were following the URC-6440/OARUSB04G Extender 1.04 thread, but blabes pointed out a very nice series of videos on using the OARUSB04G using RMIR.
This series put up by JP1 member thegrokshop
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... NFiFFj-DNg
I think links to the videos 2, 3, and 4 would be a good addition to the Wiki JP1 Just How Easy is It -RM-IR Version
page Do we need permission?
What kind of convention would we need to make VIDEOS findable in the wiki.
I also think a similar video on the NEVO would be highly desirable (hint hint)

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

It's a wiki Vicky, so you are free to add all of those if you like.

The JP1 wiki is the ONLY wiki I've ever seen. So I'm not sure of the where to put things, so that a regular wiki user would know how to find stuff. I don't know what is standard. I have also spoken up when I think things aren't findable (Jp1 master, Irscrutinizer, and others that I don't remember ) only to have the regulars in the forum disagree with me, which points out that my organizational ideas are kind of out of step with most JP1 user's prefer.
So I would like to know what is standard placement for videos in a wiki. Do we embed them, or post links. Do we put some kind of keyword that says "VIDEOS", so that people can find them quickly.
I did PM thegrokshop and he's very happy to have his videos linked.

Best idea is probably to place links to the videos at the appropriate spots in the RMIR - How Easy Is It article. The syntax for links in a wiki is as follows:
this code...
would produce this...
this code...
Code: Select all
watch [http://www.yourlink.com this video] to see how to do itwatch this video to see how to do it

Should probably check with the The Grok Shop to see how he'd like to be attributed. I volunteer to chase and do a first draft of adding links to the Wiki if someone could grant me access?
thegrokshop is his user id.
He doesn't even list grocshop.tv as his website in his profile. His website just redirects to https://www.youtube.com/grokshop

I heard back from The Grok Shop owner via email and he had no preference as to how we link to his videos, and was glad to contribute.
I've added a bullet item to the "Resources" section of the main page and a new section to JP1 - Just How Easy Is It? - RM-IR Version. Any edits welcome, of course; it's a Wiki!
