Random Question: Carrier Frequency for TiVo Protocols?

Post by Herbie »

Hey all, I have a random question for the protocol experts out there.

Can someone tell me (or show me how to figure out for myself) what the carrier frequency is for the TiVo (advanced) and/or TiVo official protocols?

I'm going to be relocating my bedroom TiVo out of the very packed TV armoire which will require building an IR extender as the new location will put the TiVo "out of view". I've found a couple of different circuit options to try, but some are limited in which IR carrier frequencies they support, so rather than chase around I'd like to know what my target is going in.

Mainly, I just need to know if the TiVo protocol is in the 36-38KHz range, or if its up in the 120KHz range like some of the satellite boxes.

Thanks experts!

You're the man! Thanks.

This is great. With stuff I've got lying in my parts bins I should be able to build a "TiVo IR Extender" which is powered by the TiVo's USB port and puts the receiver Eye up in the Armoire while the TiVo hides out of sight.
