So, bottom line, it's your choice. You can use the standard protocol and hold the button down yourself, or you can use the hacked protocol and it will hold the button down for you, which as Vicky said is useful in macros.
This is assuming that your remote uses S3C8 assembly because I only wrote one in that language.
