There was no paper or CD of any kind with it whatsoever, just the remote, a cable, and bubble wrap. The only manual I could find online is for the C3. Printed on the back of the remote is "EZ-RC remote control setup wizard www.ez-rc.com" which is where I went first after I got it, and ez-rc doesn't say what the limit is. I checked just now and it will let you do 18 as well.

I just went manual hunting again, and it turns out the C3 manual is also for the C2. There's nothing in there I didn't know already, and it doesn't say anywhere how many devices are supported by either. I will upload it here.

The ebay ad I bought from said it was equivalent to the ARRX15G. Everything I saw (including here) said it was the same as the One for All and Acoustic Research color 15-device models, and it does appear identical except for the AV/Input key and the logo at the bottom. So it was only my assumption, nothing official to back it up.

Still curious whether the other two are actually limited to 15 or not ...

Nice find.

As for the other poster's question, the 18G (C3) is about functionally equivalent to a Harmony 900.

Problem when deleting devices

I have a Nevo C2 configuration built and needed to build another with same functionality except a different TV model and a different DVD and no VCR.

I added the two new devices and adjusted Activities and macros

All was well up to that point.
When I tried to delete the original TV, DVD, and VCR devices it worked and uploaded to the remote. However, when checking the remote it still had the old devices in it.

When I tried to reload the saved file (with deleted devices) into RMIR it would not load.

So I tried deleting on the remote, then downloaded to RMIR and it would not. I tried the same (delete device, download to remote) at the ez-rc website and the same result I could not download from the remote to RMIR.

I did a Raw download from remote and have posted the file at this link Raw RMIR download file This file is the remote contents after deleting devices at ez-rc

I can continue to test the remote with the "extra" devices, so this is not critical for me.

I will look into it in a day or two, busy with other things at the moment. If you have the file before deletion, at the point where you write "All was well up to that point", it would be a great help as then I should be able to reproduce the error. Without that file I am probably going to be able to find what has gone wrong, but not why, and so may not be able to find and fix the bug.

Mathdon, many thanks for the offer. I think I have discovered what caused the fault when downloading from the remote. I initially thought this solved the whole thing, but 10 minutes later have edited this message to clarify.

In my Finish activity the macro referred to the Pioneer DVD which I was replacing. So when I deleted the Pioneer, there was still a call in the Activity macro to it. Once I removed the macro step, I deleted the "old" devices, then was able to use the remote and download from it into RMIR.

However, a problem still remains that after saving the file to the PC, when I try to reload the file I get an "Error Loading File" from RMIR.

I have uploaded a zip of
a) the file with 6 devices (all devs)
b) then after I deleted the 3 unnecessary ones (3 devs) - will not load into RMIR v2.03 Build 4 (Windows 7 x64)

At that stage I had also removed the erroneous call to the Pioneer DVD. With that file the remote works fine, but the file cannot be reloaded.

Deleted Devices problem, zip file

Now that I have these Nevos I am keen to participate more - my 15-1994 and 8910s had worked well for some time so I had not been a frequent visitor. If there is any testing I can do with these devices let me know. I am also willing to try to scribe a beginner's guide to Nevo/xSight and RMIR if you feel there is a need. I was lucky in that (in a way) my use of JP1 before has helped.

As an aside, I did find the term "Power Macro" to be confusing in the Activities form. It sounds as though it is applied to the power button. Maybe just "macro" or "Activity Macro" would be less confusing.

Thanks for all you have done. The fact I saw that these remotes were now supported prompted me to get some to replace my old units.

I have posted the .jar file for RMIR v2.03 build 5 here, for testing before more general release. Just replace the .jar file in build 4 with this one.

Although RMIR cannot be expected to handle all setups that contain inconsistencies, I think it should be able to handle all those it itself can produce, and all those produced by EZ-RC, so I regard the difficulties you have had as real bugs.

This test version can load your 3 devs .rmir file and also your raw download from your earlier post. However, raw downloads from XSight remotes cannot be loaded as they stand, as they do not contain the information RMIR needs to identify the remote. To load your raw download, you need to edit it with a text editor and add the following lines immediately above the first line:

Code: Select all

[Signature]
0000: 55 53 42 38 30 30 36

[Buffer]
Leave the extension as .ir (do not change it to .rmir). Please try this version and post here how you get on with it.

I have also taken note of your comment on the column name "Power macro". It is appropriate for the way activity macros work in some remotes, but not in XSight ones, so I have changed it to "Activity macro" for XSight remotes but left it unchanged for other remotes.

Thanks Mathdon,

I can confirm all the above. 3 devs loaded OK and raw file (edited to add header as you described) also loads.

Many thanks .. excellent work (and I see you do a lot of it)!

These seem to be very nice remotes but ones that could do with a few internal mods. Are you aware whether anyone is considering developing an extender?

For example the ability to
1) call up Activities (or a specific Activity) from a key push or macro
2) after a Favourite channel is selected, to revert to the softkeys for the active device

It seems to me that favourites are (like most remotes I have had) not that helpful as provided by the implementer. I can select Favs choose my channel, but can no longer see softkeys for the Sat Box because the favourites are there.

If #1 were possible, most of that could go away as we could use a key push after the channel selection to revert to an Activity that reverts to the Sat Box.

Again, many thanks for the RMIR effort.

The XSight Touch/Color and their clones, of which the Nevo is one, work in a completely different way from all other UEI remotes. This is why it took such a long time to develop support for them in RMIR. Unfortunately it also means that an extender for them is a technical impossibility, at least with our present understanding of these remotes.

OK - Thanks again

Suggestion for RMIR macro creation for XSight/Nevo

When building a macro it is done at the "top" level menus and requires the definition of the device and bound key. It would be nice if the list of keys could indicate whether a key in the device is already allocated a function.

If possible, bold keys which are allocated or vv.

I have been building up a Nevo C2 and I tend not to remember to check a device for a free key before starting a macro.

I have considered creating a macros "pseudo device" to hold all the macros when I am building them, and then allocate them to the real key once they are built.

Post your RMIR file so we can have a look. The remote has a volume lock setting that may need to change.

It is a bad idea to change the function of the POWER button. You need to make an ACTIVITY like "Watch TV" to do that.

Again, I don't want or need any of your RMDU files. I need your RMIR file.

You can set up an activity in EZ-RC or RM.

To post files, click File Section at the top of the page, then Diagnosis then Upload.
