				Rob
With recent website crashes and the fact that you previously stated that
when the site permanently crashes that it will be the end of the forum
When that happens are you going to send a mass Email to members notifying us that the website is no more ?

I won't be able to send an email because I don't have a distribution list that includes everyone that's signed up, but I think you'll notice when the site completely stops working. My ISP is forcing me to upgrade my PHP version, or they'll start charging me an out-of-warranty surcharge. When I do upgrade, I expect the forum software will stop working. Hopefully I'll get clear error messages, and if I do, I'll try to fix the code as time allows.
I might just try creating a new forum with the latest version of PHP and PHPBB and see how that looks, then see if I can transfer over the posts, etc from the old one to the new one, but the new one won't have a file section, because that's a mod that I added myself.
Even that sounds like too much work for me, to me honest, with the low traffic that we get now.

Rob, how about posting a final message at avs remote forum? Or start official Jp1 thread in that forum? If you do start a new forum maybe you allow contributions in yearly or month fee.

I pay a yearly fee at TiVo community and AVS Forum.

When this forum disappears, I will continue to maintain
RMIR on SourceForge and will start to monitor Tickets, which I do not do at present. That will provide a route for discussion of RMIR-related issues.

The version of php here is 5.4 and the current version is 8.4. I was able to upgrade to 5.6 ok, but when I tried 7.0, the forum failed to load and there were no error messages that would give me a clue where to start.
I have downloaded phpbb 3.3.15 and will try installing it. They do give advice on how to copy over an old forum to the new one, so I will try that. But I don't know where that will leave us with the file section.

A copy of said files is being maintained at
GitHub.

The new forum software requires at least version 7.0 of PHP, so when I am installing or working on it, I'll have to upgrade the php, which will cause this old forum to stop working completely, so if you see that, that's why.

Maybe you could post status reports at the GitHub site, too.

I really hope this doesn't die, but if it does, that you are able to at least pass on the file section and all the good articles to someone else.
I'm obviously still coming back here every time I get a new piece of gear because while the XSight is now going to be old enough to vote in a few years, it's still my tool of choice for sussing out remote codes for otherwise undocumented gear and especially so now that Harmony support is iffy.
Anyway thanks Rob for keeping this going.

We are back, well mostly back. The forum and the wiki are both back, but not the file section. That's going to take a lot more work to accomplish.
If there's anyone here that is comfortable coding in PHP and knows how to modernize old code, I could use your help.
