That page was not clear on one point. How do we access devices #4 & #8?

For dev 4 for instance You simply pick a key to use and make a macro on it only containing "dev 4". When you press that macro key "dev 4" is activated
Many a time people have used a shifted key as their extra device since we are limited by our button count.
With the The 3660 family if you do not plan on using the built in activities
you can disable the activities under "advanced " >"disable activities"
and then you could use the "watch Tv" button for instance as dev 4 by putting a macro on it containing only "dev4" Press "watch tv " and you are using dev 4
These "extra devices when used will not give a feedback signal such as the LED lighting when you press a key but it is indeed sending the code you programed it to do

I created my first device upgrade from learned keys --woo hoo!
It is the Digital Stream DTX9950 tuner, if anyone is interested. The DTX9900 uses the same remote, but the [obsolete] A/D key serves a different function.

Is there a way to collect Key Moves & native keys to create device upgrades?

Congrats. We already had that in our file section. So searching first would have saved you some trouble. At least it was good practice.

As Dave said, we have 2 upgrades already for this in the file section. The first has been there since 2010 but someone else didn't notice it and created another in 2011.

You created this one by learning all of the buttons and using the learned data to build a new upgrade, right? You found it uses NEC1 with dev 18.52 and the OBCs are all between 0 and 44.

Now you're asking about keymoves and native keys. I think what you're saying is, you have used some built in setup codes and you have augmented them using keymoves, and now you're asking, can you replace all that with device upgrades, and the answer is yes.

First off, just like with the Digital Stream, we probably already have an upgrade for whatever device you're asking about, but let's just say that we don't, what we'd need you to do is tell us what the device is (make and model, and type of device in case we haven't heard of it), and which setup code you are using. Then, we can look up what protocol and device codes that setup code uses and guide you from there.

What folder are these files in?

For capturing key moves, I was referring to a different device, the Magnavox MWC13D6 DVD TV.* It uses setup code 1963, but I had to add many key moves manually. I do not see how to capture the native keys nor the key move keys into a device upgrade file.

My Emerson HDTV** responds to many of the same keys, but I add its special features [from setup# 1864] into the same device assignment.

Scroll to the top of this page where you'll see a link called "File Section", click that. Then right at the top of the list you'll see a folder called "Device Upgrades", and below that you'll see different folders for different types of devices, like Audio, TV, etc. That's where the device upgrades are.

You're right, there isn't an automated way to convert a built-in setup code into an upgrade, but i have lists so I know that TV/1963 uses NEC1 with 135.34. I have another list that confirms that most, if not all, of the Magnavox DVD combo upgrades use the same code. For example, try this:

TV/1864 uses NEC1 with 132.224 which is the same as this Emerson TV upgrade:

I have a Toshiba SD-V394SU.
Two entries in the above-named file have incorrect OBCs for my model, but I don't know if it is true for that model.

On mine,
OBC 32 = Setup/VCR Menu &
OBC 34 = Return.

Every other key is the same, and present.

I found a way to put two devices in a single upgrade. It worked perfectly on my URC-3660, but it crashed on my Charter URC.

Two other upgrades did the same, but most have worked on both.

I have been loading upgrades from the files here, but have been halted by the following error message:

"The Protocol of this upgrade is already in use with custom code by an existing upgrade, but this upgrade uses a standard version.

To Load this upgrade, you must first convert the protocol of that upgrade to a Manual Protocol and change its PID. If you open that upgrade, you will find a button that performs this conversion."

It is not clear to me

which upgrade must be converted &
what it and its PID must be converted to...?
