That was the case for JP1.3 and earlier remotes, but the segment structure does away with reserved areas. In case you were wondering, there isn't any memory outside the E2 area that holds the segments, either, that is used for backups.

I have posted
RMIR v2.15.0 in the
RMIR Development folder on SourceForge for testing. Please see
the announcement for details. Many of the changes have been motivated by the discoveries of new features that have been posted in this thread, so please try it and report back, either here or in the announcement thread.

After a bit of memory digging and online searching, I found the above in this thread. I then found mention of the "Disable Activities" feature in the announcement of v2.15.0. Setting that allowed me to create a realtime macro on the Power button that does what I want with a short press. Great!
But . . .
When I set the Disable Activities mode, my volume buttons no longer work. Mute works, but even selecting the TV device directly, volume does not work. The TV button flashes when pressing volume up or down, but the TV (a small Samsung for my testing) does nothing. I haven't tried this on my main LG based system yet.
Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Don't spend any time on this quite yet. I remembered in the middle of the night that I had performed a hack a couple years ago that had allowed me to run macros on Activity keys.
I have a fresh remote coming today that I will recreate my setup without any hacks but using the Disable Activities option. That might solve my problem.
BTW - I have five 3660's in my house but bricked one a couple days ago by connecting a new JP1 cable backwards. Dead as a doornail.

Problem solved. It was because of a slightly convoluted configuration for the TV power and volume and the fact that the Activity was imposing a VPT different from the VPT settings on the General tab.
I had selected an RMDU for the TV for its discrete On/Off and input functions. But that did not work for volume, so I had chosen an alternate factory available setting for Samsung as a Dev8 device and used Key 5 for the WatchTV activity.
When the Activities went away in order to put a macro on the Power button, it reverted to the VPT settings on the General tab of RMIR. Choosing Dev8 for VPT on my Roku device fixed the problem.
