If i'm not mistaken you just select the button you want to use and then go into IR and create a macro on that button that only has 1 command. The device button for what ever device you assigned the upgrade to, EG AUX1. Once the macro is done running it will leave you in the AUX1 mode just as if you had press the non-existent button on your remote.

You have a choice of 4 "hidden" device modes to chose from:
SAT, CD, AUX1, AUX2
Once you have assigned your upgrade to one of those device modes, you would select the appropiate device button in your macro to select that device mode. Using your example, if you program the 2nd upgrade to the SAT device button, you would select the SAT button in the macro.

Thanks! I finally got it. I read and re-read the beginner's guides and never understood hidden devices. I didn't have a remote with one until the 6820.
