Taking them apart isn't that hard. (Rob is on vacation)
There are a couple of screws, usually in the battery compartment, and tehn there are plastic snaps along the edges that hold the case together. TAke the screws out, wedge something thin and strong in between the two and start to work your way around the edges. (I often use my thumbnail, your mileage may vary)
to re-assemble snap it together and put the screws in.

I removed the two screws and used my fingernails to separate the case. A white, copper wound coil a little over an inch in diameter fell out. Obviously, it was the source of the noise inside the remote whenever I would rotate my wrist while holding the remote. This coil was, at one time, held in place by hot glue. It must have gotten a pretty hard jolt during shipping to knock the hot glue loose. It also broke the extremely fine copper wires (thinner than a hair) coming out of the coil.
I am not an electronics expert, but my guess is this is an inductive coil used to download updates from a speaker. Other than the missing coil, the remote seems to be working fine. If I am correct about its function, I am not sure I will ever need to be able to load an update to the remote via a speaker since I have a JP1 cable. But, I will defer the more experienced members on this forum as to the purpose of this coil and how useful it is. Opinions, please?
