The URC-8811 is one of a group of remotes that all use the same processor and can therefore use the same extenders, etc. Ignoring the different model numbers that are used for different countries and shops, there are 3 different remotes that use this processor:

1) URC-8811 (also called URC-8810w)
2) URC-6011 (also called URC-6012w)
3) URC-8011 (also called URC-8017)

The URC-8811 comes with a 2k EEPROM as standard, and other chip sized will have been user installed.

The URC-6011 and URC-8011 ship without an EEPROM chip. If you mail in a 6011/8011 remote into UEI for an upgrade, they will return you a "service" remote which will most likely have a 1k chip installed. Any 6011/8011 remotes with larger chips installed were most likely user modified.

So, bottom line, there aren't any 8811s with 1k EEPROMs, but there are several 6011s and 8011s that have 1k chips.
