I think the bottom line is, the $01FF PID should be reserved for manual protocols (ie, ones without a protocols.ini entry) so, given that at least two users are likely to add it to protocols.ini and probably leave it there, it would be a better idea to use a different id.
Now, having said that, don't ask me what would be a better choice as I don't know. I would suggest $01FE but that probably means something too!

Many thanks!

All,
Thanks for your help! The Channel Master 7400 is scheduled to arrive late this week, so I can test it with SlingBox this weekend.

Works really well!

I tried the V2010_PL.bin this morning on both my Slingbox Pro and my old Slingbox Classic, and both seemed to work perfectly. The readme was very helpful. I used the browser plugin to do the setup. I chose "PVR" as the type, since there wasn't a choice for "Standalone DVR" - sound OK?
I haven't tried the new skin, but I plan to.

Ralph

Change remote type

Hi Alan and all,
I've been using this setup for 11 months now and it's worked really well. Thank you for creating it for me! I recently got a Sony Google TV that has the SlingPlayer for Connected Devices app. One feature that would help a lot in using it would be able to configure the SlingPlayer's remote control type to be a DVR type rather than a DVD as it is currently. That would enable me to map the CM7400's DVR button directly to the SlingPlayer's DVR button; it is currently mapped to the Red button since the DVD remote doesn't have a DVR button.
If that were possible, then I could use the DVR key that's on the Sony's bluetooth remote control, rather than the Red button. To get to the Red button from the SlingPlayer for Connected Devices, I have to traverse several menus - a slow process.
So, is it possible to change the remote type from DVD to DVR?
Thanks,
Ralph

It never was a DVD. In fact you specifically said you selected PVR during the setup ? I think you are expecting too much. The default remote from Sling will NEVER display a DVR button as it is not standard on any device. It will only display it if you are lucky enough to have a box where Sling have built a realistic remote image. And you haven't.
That is why the DVR command is mapped to another button, in this case the Red button. So what I can do is map that function to any of the other buttons on the Sling default remote that is easier to access from the Sony ?
As for the Sony Bluetooth remote, you need to try and figure out what code is triggered when you tap the DVR button, no idea how to do this without access to the handset I'm afraid.
OK - that makes sense

Alan,
Thank you for this explanation. I'm sorry that I was confused about the inherent capabilities of the default SlingBox remote. I had been using Dish Network before switching. This makes perfect sense, now.
I figured out recently how to remap the keys, soI changed Channel Up to DVR, and Channel Down to Exit. I seldom, if ever, use those. I think this will be fine - I just need to 'train' my wife. I was just wanting to make full use of the buttons available on the Sony remote.
While I was at it, I swapped Fast Forward with Skip forward, and Rewind with Skip Back. I did this because I use the skip buttons more often and now they are located much more conveniently on the remote.
If anyone is interested, I can provide this alternate bin file, though it would only probably be useful to someone who has the Sony Google Play NSZ-GS7.
Thanks,
Ralph
