I don't think he understands that he has to do some learning now, I think he thinks that site will provide him with a ready made code for his device.

True. I'll see what he comes back with initially.

I think building a remote is above my pay grade. I don;t think I would know where to start.
Thanks, what about the myRemote.lrz file, why can't it be found? .

Sorry, you seem to be misunderstanding this. Have you even tried
http://remotes.slingbox.com ? It is extremely easy to follow the instructions and all you have to do is click on button and fire the remote at your Slingbox. Where exactly are you stuck ?
1908cubs wrote:Thanks, what about the myRemote.lrz file, why can't it be found?
Because you haven't completed the learning process with your remote.
So please go to
http://remotes.slingbox.com, tap on the "Get Started" button and then explain to me EXACTLY what problem you are having.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. I like the curent one and the features if only the buttons worked.

Denny, if you do what Alan suggests, it will give us the info needed to modify the upgrade file that you have been using, which means you'll get to use the one you like and the buttons will work.

Ok, the first page is cut off at the bottom. Here is what I get. After you get past the 7th line
nothing is visible on the screen. I am sitting next to the slingbox and the Video devise with
my laptop which is running on Vista. After finding the info after line 7, I took my deivce remote and aimed it 5 inches from the slingbox and hit the power button. I then hit the continue button.
I was asked for the type of device, Mfg, model number and remote name(guess I can name it?) or do I need to input the model number of the remote control in that area. After I input all of the information requested, there is nothing else to click so I can continue. Something isn't right.

Since I can't get
http://remotes.slingbox.com to work, I've gone back to the launch slingbox and the slingbox assistant. I am using the V2010 remote control. I am next to the Sony VX530 RDR. I have channel 26 on and running. I opened the remote control and I click on 68 and it appears in the window on the RDR where the time normally appears or when you use the regular remote. Based on that, it would indicate the remote is functioning. Something else is causing the channel not to change. The command code on my Sony DVD rmt-224A is set on 3. Is that the issue? I tried to change it to 1 but the number 3 appeared on the screen and nothing else would work so I put it back on 3. I have the DVR set up in the Progressive mode since I am using composite cables and the picture is fine.
So now I am down to figuring out why the dvr isn't changing the channel. I will look on the forum subjects to see if anyone else has this issue.

Sony DVD/RDR players have 3 different codes so that multiple devices can work in the same room without interference. For my sony rdr-GX330 player, each unit uses a different device/subdevice combo with the same OBC's
Alan, my Sony RDR-gx330 is on unit 3 and my signals use a Sony 12/15/20 combination of 26.250 and 26.11 type signals. I don't know where your RDMU file is.

This may not make sense but when I go to
http://remotes.slingbox.com
the "box" that the dialog is in does not show me the entire area on my laptop.
It is cutoff right about the "continue button" . I was very confused about the comments that I didn't complete any of this correctly and I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. I decided to try the link on my main PC which is not near the slingbox. I use an HP dv5 laptop with Vista operating system.
My other PC is on XP. I have a "square" flat screen with my desktop PC vs
the widescreen on my laptop. I was able to see the entire dialog box on the link for remotes and it all makes sense now except, I can't figure out how the hell to make the box fit on my laptop. I am using Firefox 3.612. I can't very well drag my desktop to the basement etc. Any suggestions on how to get around this issue? I know it sounds stupid but I am stuck.

Hi Vicki, I haven't actually built a dedicated RMDU, as I far as I can see all the codes for this device are identical to the RDR-HX780 and the RMDU file for that is at
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6537
I have also seen the 'mix' of 26.250 and 26.11 in a number of other Sony devices, but as far as I can see this one uses only 26.250. And unlike Dish & DirecTV protocols there is no option anywhere to set a unit code.

It makes a lot more sense than your previous posting which seemed to describe the
http://remotes.slingbox.com page consisting of nothing but HTML code rather than the nice picture that everyone else gets.
As for getting the whole picture on your laptop, I have no idea. But you still aren't helping me understand your problem. Obviously your definition of EXACT is different from mine.
Let's try is one post at a time. Here is what I see, please tell me EXACTLY what is different for you.
1. Page open up with a picture of a SLingbox and a 'Get Started' button.
2. Tap on the button and the system goes off to locate your Slingbox.
3. Click on your Slingbox and you get a blank screen with 3 buttons at the bottom labelled 'Back', 'Import Remote', & 'Create Remote'
4. Click on 'Create Remote'
5. You get a picture of the IR Blasters and a 'Continue' button.
Is there where you struggle ? I have shrunk my browser window to try and reproduce your problem, but I get scroll bars top and bottom allowing me to move around the screen without any problem.
Do you not get them ?

Alan, we have a
RDR-VX530 Upgrade in the files section. It does use a 250, 11 combo, and some sony12 and sony15 codes. There are two sony20 26.11 functions that are critical. The TIMER and the TOOLS are really needed to use this unit, so you'll need those.
To change unit codes we change the sub devices combination.
unit 3
sub1 = 250
sub2 = 11
Unit 2
sub1 = 34
sub2 - 3
Unit 1
sub1 = 73
sub2 = 98
However, now that I've reread Denny's initial report, I think you have the unit code correct.
I'm wondering how familiar Denny is with the Sony unit. I don't have this particular unit, but my Gx-330 is one of the most complicated pieces of equipment I've ever encountered, and Denny has all that AND adds a VCR into the mix.
I own several Sony RDR units and they often will not respond to the remote but you can see why when you are looking at the front panel. With the slingbox the front panel isn't available, so its really important to have the display/info functions available when operating this unit from afar.
My unit takes FOREVER to turn on. His unit is turning on.
When its in autoplayback mode, when it finally finishes loading it will start to play.
When it is in playback mode, you can't change channels.
BTW Denny, I assume you are a cubs fan, and I was sorry to hear Ron Santos lost his battle with cancer yesterday.

I am a Cubs fan and Ron Santo was a great guy. I go out to Phoenix each year for spring training. It is a shame he didn't make it in to the Hall of Fame.
Just a note on the remote. right now, my slingbox TV is stuck on channel 26 which is ESPN. (I can click over the DVD player and watch Avator on Slingbox and then click back to CH 26) When I click on another channel such as 68 I can see the numbers in the front of the VX 530 but nothing happens. I do operate my Sony Bravia TV with the VX530 remote without any problems. I have copied old VHS taps and Sony 8MM tapes to DVD without any problems(after a short learning curve) but the unit as worked well. I use the timer to record shows without any issues. I liked the unit so well, that I bought a 2nd one for my son's condo in Phoenix.
I am brand new at building a custom remote and I apologize for not completely understanding where I was going or what I was expected to do.

Yes a shame.
I realize I was talking to both you and Alan and that might have confused you. I'm glad that you are good and familiar with the RDR-VX530, because we need that knowledge to help you. Alan has a slingbox, and I have some Sony RDR experience but neither of us have had our hands on the RDR-VX530.

Pardon my stupid question here, but I don't have a slingbox, so I want to make sure that what you are saying is that the numbers on the front panel of the acutal vx 530 box is changing. If so then we definately are sending the right codes for unit 3.
I use the timer to record shows without any issues. I liked the unit so well, that I bought a 2nd one for my son's condo in Phoenix.
Yes, I was telling Alan that we need to use a different code, so that the timer button will work with your slingbox.
I'm thinking that its the Video/DVD button that's not working on the upgrade. I think if we fix that, by using the actual vx530 code that all your problems are going to be fixed. I think when you see the 68 we're on the DVR portion of your unit. Not the vcr unit.
Am I correct in thinking that there are two tuners in this unit. One on the DVR when you're in DVD mode, and one in the VCR when you're in that mode.
