Each button can have 2 functions assigned to it. You preceed the key with a push of the setup.
When you are following the 994 instructions, you tap the setup key before the key you want to assign it to. Then when you want to access the function press setup and then the key. But if you have equipement with lots of functionality shifted keys come in really handy.
NOTE: The exception is if you assign it to a shifted number key, when you want to use the key you have to tap setup twice. you have to press setup,setup before the number to send the function, or otherwise the remote thinks you are trying to send an EFC.
