JP1 Remotes

Okay everyone I told you I was new at this.
I totally forgot that RM would open most KM upgrades.
It opened fine in RM.
(of course I had gone shopping and as I got to the store the truth hit and I hurried home to post so I wouldn't get too many replies about my stupidity)

Don't feel bad, Rob did it to me about the Gap not being bad learns earlier in this thread. I've been using the JP1 tools for about 9 years now. I felt like a moron. The only reason I posted that was it was true for me. I relearned and I got a good learn. It took about 3 trys on average to get a good learn for the remote I was learning. In your case, it's a new protocol.

I tried the upgrade you made but nothing worked. No response from the AC at all.
I'm still learning more from the OEM remote like you suggested, but it is going to take some time.

Did you copy both the Upgrade and Protocol code into IR?

Yes I did. I repeated the steps a few times just to make sure and even converted the upgrade for my Atlas URC-1056. It did nothing on that remote either.

I haven't tested the upgrade myself, so it's entirely possible that I made some mistakes. Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to test it myself for quite a while (like a few weeks, maybe) so if there's anyone else that knows how to read learned signals and PB files (there's no assembler) that could look at it, I would appreciate it.

I finally got all the extra learns done that you wanted.

66 learned codes and they all work!

The MODE learns were done with the Fan Speed set at High. I guess you could also do those learns at Low and Medium Fan Speed for even more samples.
3 Modes X 11 Temps X 2 Fan Speeds = 66 more learns.

I'll take a look at these signals, but was wondering if you had tried the other Kenmore AC 580.72056200 upgrade from the Home Automation file section. I noticed that this upgrade uses the same protocol NEC1 129,102 as the official UEI Kenmore Home/automation code Audio/1537, that comes in the newer remotes.

This file is great John, I should be able to make some headway with this. However, could you double-check the learns for Fan Speed High at 74 and 75 degrees, because they appear to really be Fan Speed Medium.

If you're willing to do more learns, go for it, the more data the better.

Here's one thing that I just noticed, first off, the TEMP+ and TEMP- learns are the same (that much was expected), but they're also the same as the set of "MODE - COOL" learns that you just posted, which tends to imply that the AC was in COOL mode when you learned the TEMP buttons, does that sound right? Here's a quick experiment that you can run, set the mode to something other than COOL and set the fan to something other than HIGH, then test one of your TEMP+ or TEMP- learns from the previous file, my guess is that those buttons will also change the fan to HIGH and the mode to COOL.

Rob, I'm having trouble reconciling the initial learns to the functions.

But I think the Aux Format key that has this comment
TIMER - Should set Timer to 1-12. 1 hour per key press
Learned code sets Timer to 1. should be the same as the Timer1 function.

But they decode differently.

Learned Timer 1 decodes as Gap 17.9 19 misc 11.9.3c.1
Timer 1 function from upgade Gap 40.120 162 misc28.78.22.A

Here's what I've determined by looking at the learned data for these signals so far.

First off, the format. They're very NEC like.

Freq: 38kHz
Leadin: +8400 -4300
Leadout: +550 -(any value)
one: +550 -1650
zero: +550 -550
#fixed bits: 8
#variable bits: 20
does not repeat
OBC format: MSB

The fixed binary is 10001000

Now onto the data. There are two formats, one that is used to set the settings (such as temp, fan speed and mode) and another that is used for everything else (such as sleep and timer).

The settings format is:
5-bit key: value 5
2-bit mode: 0=cool, 1=fan only, 3=energy saver
1-bit fixed: value 0
5-bit TEMP obc: 6=65 degrees ==> 16=75 degrees (rotated left: ie, 32104)
2-bit fan: 0=low, 1=medium, 2=high
5-bit checksum

The other format is:
5-bit key: 4=power-on, 18=timer, 20=sleep, 24=purifier and power-off
1-bit fixed: value 0
4-bit obc
4-bit obc complement
1-bit fixed: value 0
5-bit checksum

It would take me a while to come up with an easy way to describe the checksum, so if you're really curious, check out the following spreadsheet:

The upgrade you referred me to works for this AC. I thought I tried all the AC upgrades but I missed this one: KenmoreAC-580-72056200
The Guide-Energy Saver does nothing, but the Menu-Mode button will cycle through all the modes any way.
Power-Mode-Timer-Fan Speed-Temp up & Down all work great.
There is no Sleep or Air Purifier function in the upgrade however.

You were correct that two of the learns were not the correct ones.
I have relearned and corrected the file if you still want it.

I tried learning the codes from the upgrade to an MX500 and back to the URC-10820 but ir.exe tells me the codes are malformed even though they work okay. I wanted to see what ir.exe would tell me about the codes.
I'll try it on my NX-RM820 (MX850 clone) next to see if I can get a good learn.
If you still want me to do more learns from the OEM remote let me know.

I don't think I need any more learns John, I might even have some time today to run a quick test to see what's wrong with the upgrade.
