Good ideas there but the only one that I can try is the fresh batteries (need to pick some up) as my 6-pin connector doesn't have a lead going to pin 5. Along those lines I'm thinking I should maybe try grounding pin 5 but I'm gonna try some fresh batteries first.

I know this is old but just an update:

I got new batteries to try, I needed them anyways since the remote was starting to display low battery issues, after putting them in all issues are resolved.
