This is why we're concerned you're not using RM or RMIR to edit your files.

Also, your point about bricking the remote or crashing RMIR is the reason I said, "Next time I'll try it your way." I wouldn't want either of those two outcomes, especially the former.

RMIR is the governing program and yes, it is indeed the program that communicates with the remote. When you click edit on an upgrade in the devices section, the pop-up screen is the RM program, which can also be launched as a stand alone program. (Note: RMDU is the name of the files used by the RM program. I know it can be confusing because, as of recently, the shortcut for RM got renamed RMDU).
