Repairing buttons on ARRX18G

Do you have any detailed photos which show the type of metal dome switches that are used in this remote control?

I'll peel off the white and post pics in the next few days. But the whole thing is pretty smooth, as if it's one big sheet with domes pressed out of it, and the domes are a brass color.

I peeled the white membrane off and discovered that it's what's holding the domes on the board. Remove the membrane, and the domes come off and will never go back. There's a little hole in the membrane at the top of each button, I assume to let air pass in and out when it's pressed and released.

That's what I suspected was the purpose of the white sticky stuff. Were you able to compare the dome on a working vs. non-working button to see what was the problem?

No. I didn't keep track of which buttons had failed before disassembly. But my guess is the dome or membrane is probably deformed just enough that it takes more pressure to make good contact on both the outer and inner circles. I don't really see any possibility of corrosion being the culprit, just mechanical failure.

hope everyone had a very nice christmas!

Recently I bought a brand new URC8620 (Xsight Plus) from a private seller on very well known online marketplace starting with an "e". Still in the original packaging, never used. ?25,00 incl. shipping - I couldn't resist and was sure it would be a nice "upgrade" to my URC7955 (which I consider an excellent remote).

The URC8620 was indeed brand new, the plastic packaging One for All used back then was completely intact. I was quite happy, the look and feel of the Xsight Plus was fantastic, really a high quality remote.

Unfortunately I had to notice very quickly that some buttons didn't work at all and some of them only when you press them very, very hard. Exactly the problems that are already described here in detail...

- Left arrow:doesn't work at all
- Up arrow: doesn't work at all
- Menu: only when pressed very hard
- Guide: only when pressed very hard
- Exit: doesn't work at all

The problems exist only with the buttons in the upper third of the remote. All the other buttons work perfectly - no issues at all. Since I had nothing to lose I opened up the remote to hopefully find the cause of the problems. At first glance: Nothing unusual, no damages. Even under a very strong magnifying glass - the apparently problematic metal domes just looked exactly the same as the others. The same color, the same height and no cracks at all. I couldn't spot a difference.

I only noticed a difference when I pressed the metal domes on the circuit board directly with a plastic pen. All the working ones had that typical very precise click. On the none working ones the "click" sounded differently, the press on the metal felt also a bit differently. Spongy and vague - hard to describe. Considering how the remote is build I don't think this is something easily fixable - if tt is fixable at all...

My guess: If it happens even to a new, never used remote then (imho) something on the contacts/inside the domes must have deteriorated over the years. I wonder if that is the case with all the Xsight-remotes or was it just bad luck???
