Most of the TCL Roku upgrades here use the Roku protocol with device code 234.199 (whereas the Roku STBs use the Roku protocol with device code 234.194). There is one TCL upgrade that uses the RCA-38 protocol with device code 15. My Insignia Roku uses the NEC1 protocol with device code 134.5. There's a Sharp Roku TV here that uses the Sharp protocol with a mixture of device 1 and device 17. So there different codesets out there. I haven't tested whether my Insignia also responds to this codeset but I will, maybe it responds to both.MaskedMan wrote:No, there are two codes sets used by all Roku tv brands. TCL, Insignia, Philips, Haier, Hitachi, Element,Magnavox, Westinghouse, Sanyo, Jvc, and Onn Roku tv brands all use the same code. Which mostly match the old Admiral code 10463. Hisense and Sharp Roku tvs use Goldstar or LG code 10178. Actually Hisense and Sharp respond to both.
The only efc's that were the same for Roku and Roku tvs were the now gone 1, 2, and 3 keys which held voice search prompt, they no longer work because of upgrade to the Roku's.
As for the EFCs that you found, those equate to OBCs 246 thru 255. As the Roku protocol only supports OBCs 0-127, you have to subtract 128 from those values to get the true OBCs, which would be 118-127, or to give them as EFC5 values:
00189 - #1 (Rdio)
00193 - #2
00191 - #3
00195 - #4
00188 - #5
00192 - #6
00190 - #7
00194 - #8 (Instant Replay/PrevCH)
00061 - #9
00065 - #0
The codes for 1 and 8 appear to overlap with Rdio and Instant Replay. Maybe you could test the EFCs that I just listed to confirm that they also work the numeric buttons.
I did see that, thanks for sending it. It's nice that someone is doing work to support these old remotes. The buttons on mine are holding up well, so I don't need one of them yet, but I do have several where the backlight doesn't work.MaskedMan wrote:Rob did you read the PM I sent about the 15-1994 button repair insert on Ebay?

I bought one for a mx-900 remote which i never needed and still have. They get great feedbacks on these inserts. Back when I purchased it, they only had it for mx-900, bose remotes and some cordless phones.
