DirecTV's new RC65RX remote that comes standard with their new HR24 DVR uses XMP-2 for sending upgrades and backing up memory via 2-way IR to/from the DVR. Sounds like they use it for interactive setup and upgrade downloads from the DVR. The DVR also stores the remote config so you can download it to a replacement remote.

Sounds like a job for IRWidget. |

Wow, this could be a really cool! I wonder how much it would cost to add an IR-emitter to a PC. I wonder if it would be cheaper than a FLASH or EEPROM cable.
I've been holding my breath waiting for UEI to come out with a new modem upgradeable remote, but I bet this will be the wave of the future. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.
