This doesnt have any JP1.X connections but i noticed it has TXD, RXD and GND connections. I am assuming that is our way in. Do you guys have anything for these connections yet? I dont mind soldering. A picture of the board is here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=26138 |

The following thread shows the pinout of a JP1 cable, so if you have one of the ones with loose wires, you could hook it up. I see TXD, RXD and GND but I don't see RTS (Request To Send), I forget if that's the same as RESET, which I do see.

The one i have is this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164353736659 but i can solder some solid wires small enough to fit into the pin slots on my current JP programmer. The wires could be folded up through the holes in the board and out the battery slot so i could leave them there permanently. We just have to find out which one RTS is. |

Do you have another JP1 remote handy that you could open and check when where the RTS pin (pin 2) goes to?
That is, unless an expert jumps in and gives more info first. _________________ Rob

RTS should be connected to reset. Note that very likely the wire labeled TXD on the cable should be connected to RXD at the remote, and similarly the wire labeled RXD is connected to TXD on the remote. These labels typically describe their function from their processor's own perspective, and we want a listener connected to a talker. |

Got ya. Do you think there is an rdf file similar to this remote that would be compatible or is it going to be a start from scratch job? |

There's no way to know until we see the data, but if you get a download, I'll help you with the RDF. _________________ Rob

There is actually a slot under the batteries for pins. Do you guys know the type of pins and where to get them? I would be able to glue them right to the board and get at them when i remove the battery cover. |

They're standard header pins, like you'd find on an old IDE harddrive or something like that.
Here's an example of the part:

You can order longer strips and then break off as many 2*3 strips as you need, that's what I've always done. _________________ Rob

So you got the wiring sorted out, well done. I just sent you a PM for some additional info that I will need.
Does your remote look like the one here:
