Comcast Remote & Sharp LCD, hotel trouble!

Post by joshj »

Hello and an early thank you for anyone who can help me. I'm in Orlando on vacation and I brought my tv with me as hotel ones are crt and horrid. Also so my kids can play xbox. I forgot my tv remote for my tv and now I can no longer press the ok/select button which I need to change settings and setup. The tv has almost no buttons on the case to help either. I have a Sharp LCD model LC-37DW99U and I'm using a Comcast remote which everyone has. The newer remote which has 5 digit codes but is not the darker grey but is the lighter one. It has the big ondemand button and swap button near the bottom. I've been on forums with my phone for 2 hours and I've tried a dozen codes to no avail. If someone could please help me with like a small step by step guide as I'm not sure my entry method is good. I would be most grateful as would my kids. I can up pics if needed. Thank you.

Use Setup code 11602. A Comcast remote will route the OK/Select button (also digits and channel +/-) to the cable box rather than to the TV.
You can shut off this Channel Lock feature.
Do that by
1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 973 (2 blinks)
3) Tap Ch - (down)
The remote should blink 4 times. Channel lock can be re-enabled by a similar procedure, but tap Ch+ at step 3.

You could also retain the features of Channel Lock and override the behavior of the OK/Select button with a keymove.
1) Tap TV device button
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (should get 2 blinks)
4) Tap Setup
5) Enter 59861
6) Tap OK/Select
The remote should blink twice.

Wow I can't thank you enough! The channel lock was off on my remote already but the second method you gave me with code 59861 worked like a charm! I can now enable sound and setup the channels! You have made both myself and my kids happy campers! It sucks when you are so close to getting something to work and you can't do it. My kids have been playing xbox with the sound off for 3 hours, lol. Thank you again as I couldn't have asked for a faster more thorough answer!
