I would normally help but I have just started a 12-day holiday and haven't bought my 'kit'. So if no-one else helps I will check back in 12 days,

If you want to know how to do yourself it there is a set of instructions in the "Slingbox" File section at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... &cat_id=97 although at the moment I am getting a crash if I try and access it. Is it me or is anyone seeing the problem ?

Tommy Tyler sells an IR Widget that captures and decodes signals for use with the JP1 tools. Look in the marketplace.

Alan,
The whole file section appears to be down. I'm hoping that Rob isn't on a 12-day vacation too.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

No, I install the device on my Harmony Universal Remote and use that to 'learn' the codes.

Here is a link that does work. The article covers everything you need to know about creating Custom Remotes.

Ignore the Harmony Remote, I was simply explaining to you how I learn codes for any device even if I don't have access to the box. It is of no use to you at all.

And yes, when I get back I can certainly try, although no guarantees.

Multiple websites seem to imply that the Xtrend ET-5000 has strong similarities to Clarke-Tech boxes.

Why not try this bin file?

I was out of town for the weekend, but I got it fixed once I got back.
