Windows Media Center - Manual Protocols

Post by loeli »

I'm new to everything. I'm trying to use my URC-9800 with my Media Center PC. I downloaded http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... Center.txt as a starting point, but am getting confused:

I understand I have to use the "manual" protocol from the Notes section in KM rather than rely on KM computing one for me. After I change the remote type to mine, it looks like I have to come up with a PID myself in the Manual Settings section. What do I put in there?

I tried putting in zero as a PID and then uploaded the upgrade code and protocol code. The IR receiver seems to acknowledge some signal being received (LED blinking), but Media Center doesn't.

Also, how do I know whether to choose OBC or EFC for Button Codes?

Does anyone know whether all Media Center PC devices work with the same protocol/upgrade code? Mine is a Dell.

Any help greatly appreciated. It's likely I'm missing something really basic. I've read "JP1 For Beginners", but didn't see anything relating to my questions.

Maybe Mr Cinema7 has a copy of this for the 9800. The posted version can only be used on S3C80 remotes.

If Mr Cinema7 doesn't have it, maybe one of our experts on the 740 CPU can invent it. But my guess would be not. It's a difficult protocol. You might need to switch to an S3C80 based remote.

I updated the file for the Windows Media Center here. It has the needed code for protocol for your 9800 (don't forget to paste both the device and protocol into IR). Try it out and let us know how it works.

Unbelieveable, the turn-around time in this group! The protocol works great. I'll have to figure out a few additional functions like the one to start Media Center (is that the "Windows" function?), but I can probably manage this myself. Thanks gjarboni!

You're quite welcome. I guess us 740 experts are smarter than some people think :)
