Well, I don't know where you got your RDF but it was NOT from the RDF 1.28 zip file, 'cause there ain't one there!

I am using the 1.00 extender in the extender section (I noticed the older one there and carefully avoided it). So perhpas you have a newer map file that works with both RDFs.

Regardless, my modified extender RDF seems to work.

Retired from 30 years in the Navy last month. Trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, now that they've thrown me out on the street.

I tracked my RDF down. It came with Bills extender v1.0.
Most likely I just copied it into the RDF128 directory. That was few months ago.

On the street, eh? Good luck planning your life after 30y glorious career! Sure hope they gave you some health insurance.

Well, Liz, that self-same RDF from the extender 1.00 zip file is the one that didn't work correctly as I described originally. I'm not interested in any great debate about it, but I wanted to point out to Bill (when he gets around to recovering from Christmas dinner, no doubt) that for someone downloading the current versions of RDFs, Maps&Images, and the Extender, such an incompatibility pops up.

Can you please forward me your RDF? (or just post it in the diagnostic area) I'm interested comparing it to see if it is the same as the one I downloaded from the extender file.

I didn't think you wanted any debate either, but I thought I'll throw what I saw, so we're on the same page.

Never mind. Apparently the map file in the Map&Image distro got changed somewhere along the line. I compared what I had and the one in the current distro and they had minor differences in those three button names.

Man, I try to keep all of my files and tools updated, but it's getting really difficult!

Still looking for the DiscreteON and DiscreteOFF on the Layout page, however.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Using all of the downloaded latest files, now the UNEXTENDED 1067B3 has those three buttons malfunctioning on the Layout page of RM. I'll just tweak the RDF [Buttons] section's button names for those three buttons of whichever one does not work to match the other and leave it at that.

Sheesh! Chasing ghosts instead of watching my seventh consecutive showing of "A Christmas Story" today!

Bill,

Merry Christmas!

OK, enough niceties, just setting up this remote for my dad who happened to get it with his Comcast box. There appears to be a problem with the RDF (or image/map). Just open RM and select this extender RDF. Go to the Layout tab.

Notice that the CBL, FF, REV, and REC buttons cannot be assigned a function. You can do so on the Buttons Tab, and they appear as phantoms on the Layout tab, but are not mapped to their actual positions on the image.

Other questions:
(1) the Discrete ON and OFF phantoms do not appear in the Layout Tab but do appear on the Buttons Tab;
(2) Can the mysterious "key11" be made to NOT be displayed in the RM button list? I assume that it cannot be used, regardless, right?

Enjoy your turkey (or ham, or Turducken, or Turbriskfish, or whatever you're having tomorrow.)

The (now-retired) Cap'n,
Bill,

Bump!

Just noticed that the RDF still has those four buttons incorrectly named (taking the UNextended RDF as the "master" and because that's what works with the Map File)

Can you please update the RDF in the extender distro zip and file it in the RDF Development are as well?

The changes required are to rename those 4 buttons in the RDF:
CBL should be CABLE;
"fast fwd":FFWD should be "fast fwd":FF;
Rewind should be Rewind:rew; and
Record should be Record:REC

Also, something needs to change to make the DiscreteON and DiscreteOFF buttons appear in the Layout display. Right now they only appear on the Buttons Tab.

Cap

sorry for the long response time, life is getting in the way.

there's nothing stopping someone else from downloading the ZIP, extracting, making the changes and then putting it back.

I rarely get a chance to even read this forum these days, let alone work on JP1 stuff. Just really busy with work and other things.

This fixes the FAV bug that Liz found on the Atlas and was present on all JP1.3 extenders written by me.
