Learn limit?

Post by bart2brett »

Is there a limit to the number of buttons a URC-9910(new) can learn, or is it strictly memory? I thought if I just learn all the buttons, it would be cleaner. I have 241

The 9910 has about 1KB of learning memory. That's enough for roughly 20 buttons, depending on complexity. Sounds like you need a plan B.

An entire device upgrade requires about the same memory as one learned button. Without an insane number of keymoves, you could put your 241 commands in 5 or so upgrades, using less than half of your total upgrade memory and still have 100% of your learning memory free. If you're using an extender, you could multiplex between them so they only use one device button.

The goal of most JP1 users is to have no learned keys.

Thank you. I hear what you're saying and that's exactly what I thought. I just wanted to get some idea of the difference in memory between learning and building. I actually have my remote 90% there. I'm just having trouble with the newest addition. I have a Magnavox MDR515H/F7 HDD & DVD Player/Recorder. I'm using an RMDU file I found (1040 Magnavox H2160MW9), but it's not very close.
