URC-7780 Power Button

I have two of these remote's which work wonderfully (aside from eating batteries as if they were free - 4xAAA's every three months) and both have developed the same fault - namely the power button has stopped working on one, and is becoming less and less responsive on the other.

Does anyone know if this is going to be like my Pace Twin's remote and just needs the case removing and all the gunk removing from the circuit board with a lint free cloth, and if so how on earth do you get the thing open?

To open, open the battery compartment cover, and remove the 4 Phillips screws. Then it can be pried opened using a healthy thumb nail.

BTW, the 7780 runs fine with rechargeable batteries.
