The 68 that appears is on the DVD unit as it is hi-lighted. You can switch back and forth DVD to VIDEO. Whichever one you are on is hi-lighted. Just to check I put it on video and the 68 did not appear so I swithched it back to DVD and it did appear.

On the issue I've been having viewing the remotes build program. I finally figured it all out. I use IE 8.0 on my desktop and the program works fine. I was using Firefox 3.6 on my laptop and that is where I had a problem I've been using Firefox for sometime as it works faster on my Vista unit. Anyway, I had installed the IE 9 beta and it wasn't working properly. Since I use Firefox I didn't really care. I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE 8 and now the program is completely visible on the screen. I was going to start trying to do keyboard entries but I will wait until you folks give me the green light to use my 1908remote or should I create a new one?

For what it is worth, I just noticed the small red clock blinking in the window of the DVD. I was recording a show daily but quit doing so and I never removed it from the time schedule. That blinking was to alert me I need to insert a blank DVD in to my DVR. I wonder if that is what is blocking the signal.

I will go back to the DVR and see if I can change channels now.

No change, I didn't use the 1908cubs remote but the slingbox assistant one. The channel did not change when I input using this remote.

I was able to program a number of keys. After I finished programing the remote I tried to use it online. I was able to access, play, start stop pause etc. the DVD player with a DVD Moive in it. I was able to watch TV and I could control the volumn but I could not change channels. Unlike prior to my updating the remote, the channel 68 or whatever channel did NOT appear in the window of the DVR player. I progammed all of the number keys 1 through 0
on the keyboard. I also programmed the up, down, left and right keys along with the enter key (OK on the slingbox remote)

Since that didn't work I tried to see if I could change channels on my laptop tv via slingbox with the real hands on remote for the DVD. When I entered 68, it appears at the top of the Slingbox TV screen and when I hit the "set buton which is next to the zero button on the remote control" the channel changed. It worked on other channels as well.

The remote control that appears on my laptop screen with the slingbox, does not look like the real remote control I have in hand. Some of the keys use different verbage like the "set" vs "#" on the slingbox remote. The DVR controls for playing a DVD are at the top of the slingbox remote vs the bottom of the real remote.

When I tried to save the remote a dialog box popped up with c:\myRemote.irz. When I clicked on save file, I received a message "unable to save file, access denied. I can view the source code but I can't save the remote.

I will wait for your response prior to doing anything else.

Most newer operating systems will not allow programs to save files in the root directory. You'll have to save this to a folder.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

And you obviously don't understand the concept behind Slingbox remote. When you select a device, or you install a Custom Remote then the associated codes are downloaded to the Slingbox so that when you press a button on the virtual remote the correct IR 'stream' is sent to your device.

Next, Sling decided that rather than have a generic remote 'skin' that they would design realistic 'skins' for the more popular models. At the last count they have designed about 100, but your Sony model is nowhere near popular enough to warrant that sort of attention, so like most users, you are presented with the generic 'default' remote, although in my case I have designed my own remote to look better than this one.

So the 'look' of the remote has absolutely nothing to do with the coding operation we are trying to sort out.

You are absolutely right, I don't understand the concept behind this. I'm just trying to help out a friend in need. Since the style or look doesn't matter I will attempt to figure out how to send you the myRemote.lrz file that I saved.

I apologize for being such a pain in the ass.

OK, that explains a few things. Whilst most of the buttons are using the Sony20/26.250 system that we thought, the number buttons are using Sony12/1.0, which I have not seen before on a device.

Here is my first attempt:

I followed your instructions. In the Setup Assistnat (with the TV on) I hit the power button and nothing happened. The following error message came up "Custom Remote Code not found. Please try a differnet code."

When I double clicked on your link, I moved the 2 filies as instructed. Should I have done more.

The screen within Setup Assistant did NOT display a remote. When I went to www.slingplayer.com with the TV on a Remote does appear but it does not function.
