I've been able to build the cable, connect to IR, upload/download remote, even create a macro on the M1 button, however, I want to be able to put this on one of the source buttons. Is this possible? In other words, I want to press "DVD" on my remote to turn on my TV,DVD, RCVR, and switch RCVR to DVD. Like I said I have this on the M1 button, but I need help getting it to the DVD button. (likewise for DBS, VCR etc) but once I get one, I should be able to take it from there...
While searching for help, I found someone had their remote setup so when you press the source button, it only switches the source, and when you hold or shift it (I forget which) it turns everything on etc...
I've tried to program the buttons just as I did on the macro buttons, but they don't work...can anyone help me?
Thanks,
Flip

There are very few remotes that actually ley you put macros on the device buttons and I don't believe the 8910 is one of them,. If it worked on the M1 and you just changed the bound button to a device button and it did not work that kind of confirms it.
You can however, do it with the 8910 Extender. This allows you to put macros on device buttons. I would look at the extender documentation which is pretty good and then post any questions you may have on that.

I'm going to have to try this myself because I thought the URC-8910 was the other remote that would let you do this (the 15-2116 being the confirmed one).

Rob, Thats what I thought also but can't confirm it since you have my 8910 (HaHa). If he does another test by changing the bound key from M1 to a device we should know for sure since his macros work on the M1The Robman wrote:I'm going to have to try this myself because I thought the URC-8910 was the other remote that would let you do this (the 15-2116 being the confirmed one).

Careful there Nils, or I'll post pics of your 8910 on the net, then everyone will see how well you treat your remotes (including the guy who just leant you that European Kameleon) !!!Nils_Ekberg wrote:Rob, Thats what I thought also but can't confirm it since you have my 8910 (HaHa).

OK, I must've been doing something wrong before, I did as you stated, and Cloned the macro to the device button, and lo and behold, it worked, not sure if it had to do with cloning it, or I was just doing something wrong...I also deleted the M1 macro, and also added three more macros for CBL, CD, and VCR, all work ok... just need to do some tweaking...
Thanks for the help!
Flip
(I may have to figure out the extender though, as I may have to use Toadtog unless I can find discreets)

That would be cruel. Then I would have to put the pictures of the kids that did it up.The Robman wrote:Careful there Nils, or I'll post pics of your 8910 on the net, then everyone will see how well you treat your remotes (including the guy who just leant you that European Kameleon) !!!Nils_Ekberg wrote:Rob, Thats what I thought also but can't confirm it since you have my 8910 (HaHa).
Anyway, it's not a problem anymore since the boy went to live with his father so my remotes are safe again

Glad it worked and also confirmed what we thought should work.flip5 wrote:OK, I must've been doing something wrong before, I did as you stated, and Cloned the macro to the device button, and lo and behold, it worked, not sure if it had to do with cloning it, or I was just doing something wrong
Either cloning or changing the M1 to a device key should do the same thing as long as nothing else in the macro had been changed
