Sadoun FTA Receiver, need code for Slingbox HD Pro
I am looking for the remote codes for the satellite receiver which was marketed by SADOUN under various names. The current name is OPENBOX. Previous names; SATHAWK, SKYBOX, SOLOMEND. The receiver is made by SHENZHEN WANYING ELECTRONIC LIMITED, obviously in China. Their website http://www.wydvb.com is of no help and neither was the lady that I was able to text with via SKYPE in China. Courteous but of no help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Once I have the codes for the remote, how do I import that into the Slingbox?

We saw a cable box made by ShengZheng recently, model number DVTe 203A, do you think there could be any similarities with your STB?

If you're interested, you can teach the remote using http://betaremotes.slingbox.com. I have instructions on how to use it here http://slingbox.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_u ... s_website.. And it describes how to share your learntremote guid, so we can then convert it into rmdu & bin files.

Just to confirm, the site has actually left BETA so http://remotes.slingbox.com is the correct address.

Where does one go from there? I also tried to contact the Corporate office in California only to get the run around and " leave a voice mail ". What ever happened to service? I think that they, SlingMedia, is missing the boat. I feel that they should have a sub-category or category seperate from " satellite receiver " which is for pay type service only. They should have an option for FTA satellite receivers. I wanted to discuss this with them but you can't get anybody. They seem to forget, no matter how good the product is, if people start to give them negative reviews then their business goes downhill. Unfortunately their tech support is not capable of going past their scripted responses and are to no avail. It is difficult enough to understand their english, even though they try very hard. They are courteous and friendly but just not technical enough to what I was trying to get across to them. I have over 40 years in the field of Communications and more than qualified in the International arena. International Technical Manager. I've been on both sides of the fence in the service industry, unfortunately they aren't cutting it. Perhaps outsourcing is at fault. I'll keep persuing my endeavors and see how far I get. Enough of my soap box. Just really frustrated.
Hi I just tried that site, and it seems to be loading OK. Though I didn't go further than that.
What version of IE are you using? Perhaps higher version of IE (e.g.) 8.0 will help?

Another example of sloppy work from Sling. They assume that people are already using the web-based player and the plug-in will already be installed. So got to watch.slingbox.com, install the plug-in when prompted then you should find remotes.slingbox.com should workKallesatman wrote:This is the site that I got to and then it said that the plugin was not on the site.

I see what you mean but actually it is not needed. The only reason for asking for a category is for them to decide what remote 'skin' to display. But sometime back they made the decision to have identical 'skins' for Cable, Satellite and PVRs. Only the DVD selection has a different 'skin'. So actually it doesn't matter what category you pick.Kallesatman wrote:I feel that they should have a sub-category or category seperate from " satellite receiver " which is for pay type service only. Thanks fellows for hanging in there with me. Al, what I am doing has nothing to do with SKINS; it has to do with the category of menue, what I need is satellite and then it asks you for your zip code and then it pops up another selection with all the pay type sat. providers. There are no provisions for FTA type receivers in that category. Enough said on that. I have the slingbox working and was just trying to get the proper remote for my receiver implemented and it was not in the original repertoire. I went thru all, item by item. Then of course there was the JP1 learning remote recommendation and I checked that forum out as well and even talked with Tommy on the twisted pair, doesn't live too far from me and I will still get some hardware from him for other projects. Then you gave me the information on the plugin and I managed to finally get that sorted out and implemented. Now keep in mind that my slingbox was updated all this time and I don't know why this is not in the original software implementation. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known about it. I've checked all the forums, slingbox technical info and so forth; so it is not that I didn't make a whole hearted effort. ( I'm just a persistent German, stubborn and hate when things don't come together ). I've even sent an e-mail to the sat receiver manufacturer asking for the code but no response yet and perhaps may not get one. Sent e-mail to slingbox aka SlingMedia and they aren't responding so far either. Sure would be nice to be able to have a dialog. So, for now, thank you for all the input and I will have to do some more tweaking before I close this issue.
I think the main issue is that their program guides are contracted from Zap2It. Though, I did see between Zap2It's website and the Slingplayer's channel guide. It is missing 4DTV and C-Band from the selection of choices. It is probably a matter of financial compensation as to the reason why they're not available as options in the Setup Assistant.Kallesatman wrote:Thanks fellows for hanging in there with me. I really don't care about the EPG, i.e. programm guide. I just think that they should accomodate FTA receivers in their satellite category and not only the pay sat service. By the way still no call from corporate at SlingMedia, the maker of the slingbox. Not customer oriented. Will consider putting something on my website about that. I'll give them some more time.
I'm a little confused, since that specific screen selection is for the electronic program guide.Kallesatman wrote:I really don't care about the EPG, i.e. programm guide.
